Well, we knew it was coming sooner or later.. And it actually works! *cough* Quad-SLI.. *cough* http://www.tweaktown.com/news/8407/index.html
So, is Nvidia going to be releasing a BIOS update so we can run Tri-SLI on our 680i's?

For temp wise, liquid cooling would be a necessity I take it? |

Yeah, it runs really hot! Liquid cooling all three cards is a good idea, but, that also puts a lot of heat into the loop. We will know what works best after further testing.

Maybe the thinking goes that if you can afford a monitor that actually needs the resolution support of a triple SLI config, you're not worried about price .

I believe the intent was to have two cards in SLI with a third slot for additional video. An example would be having multiple displays with an SLI system. (which would take three video cards)

Based on what that article is saying, it's actually being used to help scale and is improving performance. That would be nice if it also opened up the possibility for multiple displays.

Triple SLI will work just like SLI does now. Imagine playing Crysis on a wide screen 30" display with three 8800 ULTRA's on a QX9650 overclocked to 4.0GHz+!!!
That will be come a reality soon.

I think I'd need another air conditioning unit in my room to run that..
