I'm looking at both the velox and lumos case. Does anyone know of pros and cons between the two? I am currently leaning towards the lumos because it look's like it's a little easier to work around on the inside if i ever need to plus you can see around a little better. I don't know if the velox is actually hard to work inside. Just wanted some others opinions on it.
This is the build i plan to do on either case. The most important difference is from an appearance standpoint. Since the Velox window is on the right side of the case, the motherboard and its attachments are upside down so the parts can be displayed in the window. Also will have an impact which side is facing out where it's positioned. The Lumos is a little easier to work with for those reasons; the Velox is actually a tad larger.
Additionally, the case has been modified now to have an all glass side window instead of the steel border. Have a look here: https://www.digitalstorm.com/forums/new-velox-case-tidf51167/ The product page has yet to be updated. The build is excellent. The free mild overclock would do no harm, but the CPU is plenty strong without, so up to you. The chip itself is designed to be oc'd. The RTX 2070 SUPER will slaughter 1080p, and perform very well at 1440p resolutions. The internal lighting strip is free. I'm told the Corsair LL fans provide even more colorful options through Corsair software if you're interested.

Hey thank's for the answer! I added the lights just forgot to at the time haha. I found a video on the lumos and saw its glass around every side. How well does that vent as opposed to vent holes in the case itself? So you'd also suggest doing a overclock on the cpu and gpu?

The Lumos is considered to be a very good case for airflow. It flows front to back AND bottom to top with large dust filters.
We don't recommend overclocking the GPU on air alone. Not enough gain for the extra heat. The CPU temps will be very good with the liquid all-in-one. Glad to help.

That Lumos case is very spacious inside - mine looks nearly empty inside. The glass panels have spacers that that keep the panels from touching the metal case frame and create about a half-inch space between panels all around the case. So there is plenty of room for airflow to enter the case.
I have an air-cooled CPU in my case, so the 2 top fans are actually intake fans (on my Lumos) that blow directly down on the CPU and the air cooler. Edited by Bob100 - 13 Apr 2020 at 2:34pm |
