Hi All, I'm typing this post from my awesome new Digital storm rig. http://digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=160877 Running on my 1680x1050 monitor, it runs Age of Conan and Bioshock flawlessly with all settings maxed out. No annoying bloatware on this rig either.
My sole complaint... a minor complaint... is it's pretty loud. A combination of the stage 3 fans and either the PSU or GPU. When I get a chance, I'll let everyone know which it is, though I suspect the PSU by the sound.
But, I couldn't be happier. I ordered this rig on June 26 and picked it up from DS' offices in one calendar week! Out of a 5-10 business day estimate for completing the rig, that's 5 business days. Thanks DS for underpromising and overdelivering!
Happy July 4th,
Tom

LOL thanks Harleyman... I knew you'd be the first to reply ;) I didn't press for the tour... it was late Thursday afternoon and other happy customers were there to pick up their rigs so I didn't want to impose. Also, I used to be a public figure for an IT-related website, so I've gotten to see some cool stuff before at other places.
They stepped my OC up from 2.66 to 3.2 GHz. Money well spent!

Absolutely excellent Tom Tom. You must be extremely excited to run through not only the latest titles, but some of your old favorites on your new DSO system.
Congratulations
Now.... how about some pictures?

Thanks all! Re: operating tempuratures, what monitoring program do you recommend?
Hey Tyler: sure, I'll send pics :) And yeah, my older favorites are playing very well... I used to be ok at COD4 multiplayer, now I'm often the top scorer :)

Wow, our rigs are almost exactly the same! I think the only real difference is yours being a 2.66quad, mine being a 3.16duo.
Congrats on your system :) |

Sounds like a great machine, looks like you should be flying without a doubt. I just got my machine too not that long ago and I love the performance also, just amazing....
Have Fun, Dave |

I to am curious about your running temp. I also chose the stage 3. Not
worried about any noise since I use a head set when gaming anyway.

My system runs pretty cool 40-45C at idle, up to about 50-52 under load for the CPU and the GPU stick at 54-55C at idle and pop up to 58-60 under load... and that is with StageII + 1 Fan cooling :) and this is in a 30 degree Centigrade room in the middle of summer :) so I think I am getting darn good cooling in my 950 case :)

OH, I re-read your post and you typed in stage 3. Thats cool cause
Kelly told me it would be loud but im not worried. The SEVEN fans
inside wont bother me as I play with a headset. That temp is just over
the test temps I have seen when people submerge there pc in mineral
oils. That is a pretty cool thing too see. Their are a lot of videos on
youtube for that.
Thanks for the input and sorry for babbling, |
