I knew I should have went with XP and not Vista 64-bit.  I have been reading so many driver messups, blue screens, etc on Vista.  If my rig gets here and has any of these I am going to be soooo pissed. Angry

Don't know if you have 64 or 32bit, but I haven't had one issue with Vista since I've had this rig.  SLI and 64bit is what I'm seeing most of the issues on.

Really? So the problems are based on SLI?  My wireless mouse and keyboard are supposedly "Vista Certified" so we will see,  They are logitech.  And I didn't go SLI so thats a bonus.

i dont use sli and i have only had 2 issues that were vista related, both were rooted in things i just didnt yet understand about the operating system(mainly UAC), i use a usb connection for my phone, a usb connected hard drive, a usb connected camera, a mx512 logitech and a logitech keyboard with media/bindable shortcuts.

every item i use came out before vista existed, and i have not hit a single bump using them. i feel that, since the general "savvy computer user" stigma is to resist change, especially from microsoft, everyone blames every issue on vista

personally i feel there should be more fingers pointed at nvidia mobos and definately at systems with sli and raid set ups

You know, I'm really more apt to believe this also.  I think it's just easier to blame Vista because so many have already drunk the coolaid about issues with Vista.   It's kind of a witch hunt.  Once you've spotted a witch,  there's gotta be a burnin!

I've only had 2 Vista 64 bit issues since I got my rig in March.  First, Linksys is not making Vista drivers for my network print server (32 or 64 bit, iirc), so I print to a different printer using printer sharing on an always-on machine.  And, I've had trouble getting the drivers working to my Sony digital voice recorder, even though the drivers I downloaded did say they were Vista (so maybe not 64 bit?).  I rarely use that recorder, though, so I've just used it on my old XP machine when I need to.  Other than that, zero Vista 64 problems.

Programs I've used, some extensively, some less so, without problems:

- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Sony Vegas Pro
- Pinnacle Studio 11
- Neverwinter Nights 2
- Crysis
- Call of Duty 4
- Firefox

One other thing I thought of - Vista 64 comes with a 32 bit Internet Explorer, and a 64 bit version.  There is no Flash plugin that works with the IE 64 bit version yet, so you need to use the 32 bit version to use Flash with IE.

I had major major issues with Vista 32-bit due to (evidently) installation issues.  I finally reformatted my disk and reinstalled Vista from scratch, and I've only had one or two major issues in the month or so since.

I have SLI and vista 64.  I haven't had any problems with it so far- maybe i'm just lucky.  I have had a few issues with Crysis on vista 64 (where as it ran perfectly on XP pro) and a few issues with Windows media player (random crashes).  Overall, its not too bad though.
