I'll start off with my system specs..
Ryzen 7 3700x GTX 1650 4GB :( Asus Prime X570-p 16GB DDR4 3200 Mhz. SSD M.2 500GB 2T Seagate 600W Power Supply This is my first PC, I got it January of 2020 and recently I've ran into a consistently low FPS, I'd say it just about got cut in half. To my knowledge I didn't change anything for months of this issue happening. In COD Vanguard or Warzone I can only pull about 50-60 FPS. The GPU was overclocked using MSI, the core clock slider was at 149 and the memory was at 935, core clocks were reaching about 2055Mhz at regular gaming temps. CPU was overclocked to 4.4 I believe, since investigating the problem I have reverted to default. I am pretty certain nothing has over heated. After I did my overclocks I monitored them very closely until I was confident they wouldn't budge. CPU is liquid cooled, GPU is obviously not. I tried running Heaven Benchmark while monitoring temps, clocks, usages and all that jazz but I'm a noob and don't know exactly what I'm looking at all the time. Please please please help, I'm so terribly lost. |

First things... I have removed the duplicate posts. There is no reason to post the exact same thing on 3 or 4 different forums. We're mostly DS customers here on this site and there's not enough traffic to worry that your thread will be buried before anyone can see it.
Second.. I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the FPS. I have to ask though, if you're too much a 'noob' to understand Heaven why on earth would you ever go near an overclock on a GPU?? Having said that, and being that I am going through a very rough patch detecting my own issues right now, I can offer some suggestions on where to look for answers. Download OCCT. It is a great testing and monitoring tool for all aspects of the computer. If you do experience any crashes, get WhoCrashed. If you want to check the security of the tasks that you are running, in case one is running in the background to suck up all the FPS, get Security Task Manager. And all the very obvious, scannign for malware, riskware, trojans, ransomware... something is eating up the resources... And finally, above and beyond all that, I have found considerable, knowledgeable help on the NVidia Discord under "Tech support" at all hours of the day and night. These guys (and GALS!) know what they're talking about and are willing to help. Hope that helps you.... Good luck. |

I appreciate the help. I am a noob but I also know I have a cheap graphics card and I shortly learned that after I bought the PC. I also learned about the performance that I'm leaving out there by not overclocking. Like I said, I was careful to watch the temps and from what I understand that's really all you should be concerned about when pushing your components. Also, sorry for the duplicate posts. I wasn't sure how to categorize the post.

I have a 4 year old 1070 that runs 3 monitors, on the best monitor I have no frame rate loss while running the other two. I can run Heaven on one monitor (1440), Furmark on the 2nd (1080) and monitor all temps and fans on the 3rd.
I have never thought to OC the 1070 because it's working just as I need it. OC'ing is for people pushing newest components to the bleeding edge for bragging rights and numbers... it's only other purpose is to shorten the life of the component. My 2¢ on OC'ing.... |

Sorry about the issue. Have you checked whether the slow down started after any particular software (OS or drivers) update? Scanned the system for viruses? You have lifetime service at DS, give them a call if you continue to have the slowdown. Good luck and please keep us posted. We all learn. @Snaike: oc'ing is not only for "bragging rights". It is also used to bring out the full potential of components. Out of the gate, hardware is clocked by its mfg. at a safe all around speed to serve the largest market possible. There is a lot left to sharpen if you are so inclined. I'll wager that most that oc do not post their results to show off. Now, if you use LHe (liquid Helium) cooling!!!! definitely brag! ![]() My USD$0.02! ![]() Edited by hoserator - 04 Dec 2021 at 1:46am |

I understand that kind of thing is a thing but it's not a 'me' thing... I don't water cool, I don't OC, I don't drop low rider/lifter kits on my vehicles, I really don't alter the inner workings/engineering of anything... The way I see it is you have teams of people smarter than me that have been doing this for years.. why mess with what they put together?
But, again that's just me and my 2¢.. That's why they make Chocolate AND Vanilla.

LOL so true! ![]() Reminds me of what my father used to tell me when I would take engines apart to "improve" their output for racing! "GM's engineers know more than you" was a common gripe. lol I guess I just love to tinker! We'd still be driving Model As if no one tried to "improve" the design. ![]() |

IMHO the improvement at stock in the most recent years has been plenty strong enough. Overclocking was a real thing back in the day, and both you guys are old enough to remember when that was. Now we have i5s capable of delivering unfettered results, and 3rd tier GPUs delivering last gen's cutting edge. In this environment, tinkering is just that for it's own sake, mostly.
Having said that, our OP found himself in a place with a lower-end (NOT "cheap" IMHO) GPU in an environment where replacement isn't much of an option. He used a highly regarded (and pretty safe from all accounts) software to boost performance he felt he NEEDED, and I admire the effort. I doubt his issue has anything to do with that, and agree DS is his best resource after the good suggestions made here.

The first time I noticed the slow down was after I downloaded COD Vanguard. It really never ran good from the get go. Here and there it would get good frames and the game would feel nice but it has slowly been getting worse. As far as drivers go, I don't believe I had installed any new ones prior to the slow down. Since the slow down I've installed the new game ready Nvidia driver as of Dec 1st. |
