Hey guys. I was going to shrink the main partition on my SSD by 100GB, because I have 120GB of free space. However, I can only shrink it 3GB, because of unmovable files. I tried Auslogics and Perfect Disk. However, even perfect disk called them "excluded" and would not fix the issue.

Does anyone know of something that might be able to help?

Just off the top of my head I think they are system volume files. Is your system restore on? If you're comfortable doing this, kill your system restore and delete all your restore points. That will unload a lot of space and allow you to shrink the volume.

I already deleted all of them except for one, and the segment did not decrease at all, although another one comprised of the same file types but located further from the end of the partition did.

weird..... I'm sure you know all the other usual suspects.

What about the page file? Did you set it to zero long enough to resize the volume? The only other file I know that's a bitch to move is the MFT

Got me stumped too. You have an SSD and I've never had one so maybe those things have issues with files I never heard of. Sorry I couldn't be of better help.

It's all good, and thanks for the help, although I had already tried with the paging file usage, and it didn't work. If nothing else works, I am just going to wipe the drive and reinstall everything to a partition that is initially smaller.
