Does anyone know if updates are installed by DS during building? For example, I see that the 780i motherboard had a BIOS update on 12/26.
Just wondering if I should start making a list of what I need to update. |

Supposedly updates are installed during stage 2, but I'd go ahead and get all of the drivers/bios (mobo AND vcard) updates and drop em on a flash drive just in case.

I say yes, and no.
I feel they load the current drivers available at initial build date but are not daily looking for new updates that may have came out over night.
For Example, when I recieved my system, both the Nvida driver and Creative Labs driver were out of day.
So, when you do get your system, update the drivers.

Yes, they do. But, they load the drivers that are working best with your personal build. I would recommend that you wait to see a response post from DS here or call Alex and ask if you should update your BIOS. The BIOS is the one you should be more concerned about.
I also have a BIOS update that I could do for mine but I'm not having any problems with the current driver. The rule of thumb is , "Don't fix it if it ain't broke". Edited by EdH63 - 09 Jan 2008 at 7:38am |

I tried to dualboot XP but it didn't quite work out properly so I had to reformat with Vista. So now I'm back at basic everything, I already have the sound/video drivers but I'm not sure what else I should have that I did previously.

Go and get all of the vista hotfixes, along with the nvidia vista hotfixes if you haven't, and you should be golden.

I've checked all over the Nvidia site and I haven't found any hot fixes, any links?

http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows_vista_hotfixes.html
It is a bitch to find that page normally. Hidden in Support > Knowledgebase > Microsoft Windows Vista Hotfixes. |
