I'm sure this gets asked all the time, hopefully everyone isn't too annoyed by this question... I'm looking for the most cost effective way to upgrade the machine below. I'm guessing the biggest bang would come from a new video card, is that right? Can that MB and PS handle anything on the market right now? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum joshbrooklyn!
Yup, I would expect best noticeable upgrade would be a new video card, and then I’d say maybe add 8gb more RAM for a total of 16gb. Both are pretty much plug & play easy upgrades. You have plenty of PSU power for just about any NVidia GTX 1000 Series or RTX 2000 series card. Asus Z87 motherboard & i5 CPU will still play ok. Would keep the rig playing longer before it’s time for a more involved overhaul. |

Agreed.
Check out the new GTX 1660 Ti from Nvidia. I will nearly double your current video performance for ~$280. Go to Crucial.com for a scan that will recommend a match for your current RAM, but you might prefer to replace it all. Be sure you get DDR3.

I have the Vanquish 2 from early '13 with the same CPU. I upgraded my RAM to 16GB, added another SSD and upgraded the GPU to an EVGA GTX1070 with a smaller PSU than you've listed with absolutely no problems or issues.
IMHO, that's all you'll need for a while longer now.

If you dont wanna spend much, just upgrade your CPU to i7 4790k and GPU to whatever your budget is. Right now best bang for buck is GTX 1660Ti or RTX 2060.
