First I have to say I have had this machine for almost 1 1/2 years and I love it. When I purchased the machine I was playing on a LED screen running @ 1920x1080 but i have recently upgraded to a 2560x1600 monitor. Here is the system that I am running right now:
Chassis Model: Cooler Master CM Storm Scout (Black OPS Edition) Processor: Intel Core i7 930 2.8GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 Micro Edition SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports SLI or CrossFire) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (Extreme Speed) Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1.5TB Seagate Barracuda (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed) Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Player/DVD Player (Play Blu-Ray and Play DVDs) Video Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler (Compatible With ONLY i7 Processors) CPU Boost: FREE: Stage 1: Overclock the processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz (Requires Air Cooling Upgrade) Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) I am going to replace the VR with a new Intel 160GB SSD. My question is what video card should I look at to replace the 470 card. I know I can't do SLI or CF. I am going to wait until Q4 to upgrade the whole system to the next gen intel proc. THanks for your help. Bron

The EVGA x58 Micro motherboard actually has two full x16 PCIe lanes, so it does SLI and CF quite well. You'll just be limited by your PSU, but I think yours would manage dual 470s fine if you wanted to go that route. |

I wouldn't upgrade teh gpu now:
1. you are getting a new pc and gpu/s in Q4. 2. right now there is not a much of a huge upgrade to the 470, money is best spent IMO on a future gpu when the next line of gpus come out. |
