From my understanding, free upgrades is sending the rig back to them and they'll give you free labor costs, but you pay for the parts.   You can use their parts in inventory or have them special order parts they don't carry. An added fee applies to special orders.

Bottom line, you pay shipping both ways, pay for the parts, but no labor cost.

The 970 is a great card, especially for a 1080p monitor.  What upgrades are you considering?

A video card upgrade is all most need every 2-3 years , and it is relatively easy to do.  But, up to you of course.

well i have a good CPU a I7-6660k @ 4.4 so i think that will be good for a while but i have a feeling when the new battlefield comes out im not sure i will be able to run it at 60 on ultra with the 970 i might be wrong but if i was thinking i would have gotten a 980 when i ordered it but i didn't so i might go to a 980/ 980 ti

Over the next 2 months the new Pascal gtx 1070/1080 cards will be released as the 980 is retired from production.   Supposedly, much better performance, more energy efficient and new features for VR, like multi display support , dropping edge resolution to give more performance to the middle, etc.

I think it mentioned within $100 of the cards they're replacing. Maybe the same price.

I try to get more in the 5 year range out of my GPUs, but then again, I have been setting at 1920x1200 resolution for long long time now, with no intention of going up. Big%20Smile

I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. B will appreciate you keeping your paws off them.

Although, everyone likes a little caressing now and then.

I'm seriously considering the 1070 to replace the stock 770 on the little Vanquish II even though it's only been two years, 2 months since I got it.

Snaike... That'll be a real nice upgrade.    With rumored specs you're looking at a good 50% better performance with more fuel efficiency.     Still waiting for actual benches.

Yeah, the difference in energy consumption often appeals to me just as much as, if not more so, than the power boost - namely because of my aforementioned stagnant resolution. Big%20Smile

But who doesn't love lower utility bills? LOL

Since upping my gtx 570 to the more efficient 970, I've noticed my home heating oil consumption go up.   LOL

Hmm, I hadn't considered that. Just imagine if you'd jumped from a 480 to 970. Big%20Smile
