Hello! First of all I am more than happy with the product I got and I've upgraded the graphics and RAM and have had a blast gaming and streaming with it. Best deal ever LoveBig%20Smile

So I have the Vanquish 7 AMD Ryzen 5 2400 with Radeon Vega graphics, 3600 Mhz 4 core(s) 8 logical processors. The current motherboard is MS-7B07 A320M PRO-VH Plus.

I have upgraded the GPU to a GeForce EVGA 1060, added two sticks for 16 RAM and added an SSD. (I read that on your forums for a quick upgrade)

I now have the money to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 and have DD4 added for VR. My question is would I have to replace the current motherboard and if so what are good hardware specs to upgrade? Would I need a water tank too? I have people who can install it but I want to get the right hardware.

Thank you!!!!

I found this for you:

https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/MSI-A320M-PRO-VH-PLUSMS-7B07/63895

Sorry I can't make hyperlinks work here.

Your board as you can see, seems very rudimentary and pretty near the end of the upgrade path you're already at.

AMD had been such a bust for so long until recently that I'm afraid not many of us know too much to help you choose. I have been very impressed by their sharp upswing; I am convinced they have a very competitive product line now, and will continue to have, at least in CPUs.

Seems to me you are at a crossroads that can go any direction because you need a new motherboard to advance from here. Unless someone who knows AMD steps up in a day or two to help you, I think your best bet is to consult with DS. They have been offering AMD for a couple of years now, and they will have all the expertise you need to at least advise you, if not sell you the parts. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thank you very much for the quick reply and advice. I don't mind working with another brand besides AMD but I want to make sure it'll work with the CPU and ram/ssd and GPU (geforce nvidida 1060)

If anyone has any recommendations that could help push me in a decent one to replace please let me know I'd be very thankful Drooling

Edit: I am a customer but I don't know how to verify myself on here lol

Also I came across this in 2020. Any suggestions that would be compatible with the Vanquish 7 ?

Okay, there's a little confusion here. AMD is the BRAND of your CPU. Intel is the other choice. Since you are at crossroads with a motherboard choice, you could go either way. MSI is the BRAND of your current motherboard.

Since you said earlier, you wanted to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 (AMD BRAND) CPU, I'm assuming that you want to stick with AMD. My comment was saying that it is not at all a bad choice these days. Then in your last post, you talk about compatibility with the VANQUISH 7.

As far as I know, the Vanquish 7 case is a full-size midtower which will accommodate any ATX motherboard you want. The parts you have so far will transfer over to a new board, no problem. My problem in advising you is that I don't really know the Ryzen line of CPUs and motherboards all that well, and I don't know how much of an improvement you're looking for. That's why I suggested you ask DS. It might take getting referred to someone other than the first person you contact, but someone over there is an expert on all things AMD, and can guide you best.

Having said that, in the roundup from PC Gamer, the Aorus AX 370 looks best. The first 2 are really high-end, and that's rarely a best choice in mobos if your not a power user. #3 is a "micro itx" which means it's meant for a smaller case. #5 will do, but it's a B350 chipset, which I do know is the lower end, so not as good as the X370 Aorus.

As to what CPU to get, IDK. IMHO, I would game on the improved system you have until it doesn't work so well. Are you already there? The Ryzen 5 2400 isn't exactly a dud, it's just last gen.

To receive the "Verified Customer" badge you need to make certain that your forum's email and your customer order email match exactly (case sensitive like a password). Once this happens you will get the badge automatically as Cretae says above.

I found a link to a forum post on the msi forums that seems to say there is a bios update for your MB that supports 3000 series ryzens.

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=320327.0

The website seems to be mostly down right now since I guess they do sunday maintenance so maybe look on monday or later today.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm a newbie to building/upgrading rigs.

What I have is running fine. However, the last big windows update, I'm getting a pop-up saying that my computer saying to update the AMD graphics software but iit's refusing to no matter what I do (probably because it's last gen) but it's not affecting the graphics since it's powered by the nvidia card I put in.

I play a lot of newer games that require more power than what I have for better gameplay and graphics. I didn't want to buy upgrades that could damage or overheat my system. Also, I want to use a VR for my system but I don't know if it'll work with the requirements. That's why I want to replace the specs that I have :)

Yeah, your needs going forward require some balancing beyond me. I still think consulting DS is going to be your best course. At some point we here could make some recommendations that would overcome your power supply. DS knows what's in there, knows what you would need for what you want, and knows what works with what. You don't commit to buying from them. You have lifetime tech support.
