I ordered a vanquisher II a couple days ago and was wondering what the upgrade options are. At some point i would like to upgrade to a 770 or even a 780, ofc with a bigger PSU.

Hi BigChina...   Welcome to the forums and congrats on the order.  Awesome

The Vanquish, and any system here, is easily upgradable.     The 600 watt psu will handle the 770 or 780.    I like a 750 watt for headroom but since you have the 600watt then it should be fine.

Before you invest in a aftermarket cpu cooler, which is never a bad thing, download and run HWMonitor and see what the 4590 's 4 cores temps are running at with the stress of gaming.  If the stock cooler keeps the temps in the 70's or lower then you're good to go.  Just a thought.  Big%20Smile

The Hyper 212 evo is a real nice cooler, but plenty of others are good.  I believe DS uses the Zalman CNPS 5x Performa cooler in the level 4, but not 100%.  .

The i5-4590 is a non-k cpu, meaning not unlocked and not made for overclocking.  I'm not saying it can't be overclocked but not easily at all.   The K chips , like the 4690 K are unlocked and easily oc'd in the Bios.

As mentioned elsewhere (numerously) in these threads, DS decided to market the non-k chips in the Vanquish line in March of this year. Water cooling was also removed.

As bprat said, the 4590 is not a K chip, meaning it will not be easy to overclock, and if you do, there's a very good chance it will be unstable.

Should you wish to run down the road of upgrades, overclocks, water cooling and the like, I would suggest any other model DS makes other than the Vanquish. The Vanquish is an entry level, or value, machine... premade and ready to ship. This is why there are no upgrades available in the configurator.

But, all in all, it's an awesome machine in it's own right.

At 15, you're making an adult choice in letting someone build a computer (with your own money) that will be guaranteed to work and warrantied for years to come.  Yes, building computers can be fun and you can learn a lot about how they work by doing it.  But if you want a machine that will work, now and later, with a limited budget, you made the right choice to have someone on your side that you can call if things aren't right.

I actually have a teenage family member who swore up and down that he could build a better, faster, beefier rig for less than I paid for my Vanquish II Ultimate.  So, he started to build his two weeks before I ordered mine.

I've been playing all my games, on ultra settings, without a care since March.  He is now waiting for the 2nd RMA on a faulty motherboard, and keeps complaining that he can't get the right "thermal paste" for his rig.

I saw him yesterday and just pointed at my pretty blue Vanquish and smiled.

Check my recent post with pictures of my rig. This was a vanquish version 1 level 4 when I purchased it. All these systems are highly upgradeable and future proof. Also digital storm and the community here is always willing to help.
