Look at your current dvd drive and the bluray drive will connect teh same way.

as far as which brand is good, I have no clue.

If all you want is the capability to read blu-ray discs (i.e. watch movies), then the Lite-On iHOS104 is a good choice.  To actually burn your own blu-ray discs, then go with the Lite-On iHBS212.  I have both, and am completely satisfied.  The 212 also has LightScribe technology, which is a cool way to label your DVDs with laser etching. They both use the SATA interface that you're probably already using with your old drive, so it's an easy swap-out.

Keep in mind to use the lightscribe you need dvd's that support it, you can't scribe to any dvd/cd/bd.

My dvd is Lite-On and so far so good, I do hear good things about them too.
