I'm not a complete newbie, but I've been out of the loop for awhile.  I built my first pc when the gtx 295 was the big thing.  Put that one together myself.  The one I am using now is from the gtx 480 era, and it's showing its age.  And so here I am looking for advice.  I whipped up a build in the configurator.  I would love to get some input and suggestions.

Budget:  $2000 ish.

Expectations:  Single monitor, most likely 1080p, -maybe- dip into 1440p.  No interest in 3d.  Not buying into the 4k thing.

Usage:  Gaming and general use (youtube, web surfing).  Ability to run the newest games on high settings.

I tend to hang on to systems for awhile, and I rarely upgrade them piece by piece, so it's important that I get some longevity right off the bat, but with some room for upgradeability years down the line when what's top grade today will be more affordable.  Since I've been out of it for so long, I am concerned about bottlenecks and possible comatability issues.  Here is the build:

I did a little research on the cpu. If this PC for gaming, i think you'll want to go with the i7 7700k. Confirm with one of the more experienced specialists on this forum. I'm still a newbie at this stuff.

That build does look good, but like Batman said, I would go with the 7700k for its 4.5ghz Turbo speed which is what gaming likes over added cores.   I also put in a better CPU cooler. The 120mm rad is good but this one gives better performance and it's a Corsair for better warranty over DS branded.

It is a bit more money but worth it if you can.

I also added the CD Recovery option since the partition is useless if the drives dies.

Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the input.  Speed versus cores makes sense.  Liking the changes.  Any opinions on the mobo?
