My system was supposed to arrive today. I waited all day for it, refreshing the UPS tracking page every so often in case anything went wrong. Apparently, something did go wrong. According to them:
THE RECEIVER WAS UNAVAILABLE TO SIGN ON THE 1ST DELIVERY ATTEMPT. A 2ND DELIVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE I was home this whole time...no UPS truck came by. There isn't even a notice on my door or anything. |

Did you double check the receiving address?

I know I gave DS the right address. Maybe something got lost in translation with UPS. If I call UPS, would they be able to verify?

Unfortunately, that's something UPS does. They will just mark it down as an attempt when they get behind so they aren't penalized.
There was a huge rash of this during the delivery of the 7th Harry Potter books. UPS was doing to avoid paying penalty fees to Amazon.

Lambent...
Actually they did it to me once before... I stayed home and had the door open the entire day and evening... They still updated the ticket as unable to deliver first attempt... No notice on my door or anything... I dont know if there is anything you can do... They will probably just say that he went to the wrong address. In my case it happened on a friday and I was quite pissed because the next attempt would be made on Monday... I just asked them to hold it at their Distribution center and I went and picked it up on Saturday. Its such crap... I hate when they do that...

Sorry to hear that. If this is really what they did, then this puts me in a terrible position. I am in the process of moving to another house, so waiting around for them to deliver it isn't really an option. I guess I'll call them tomorrow morning to see what I can do. |

Yeah, you should call your local UPS tomorrow ASAP to check it out before the UPS carrier leave their station.

Thanks! I almost forgot about that. Calling once it was on the truck would have been useless. Today it was out for delivery at 5:42AM. I think I will call around 5:00AM...hopefully that will work... |

Yeah, and also you can call UPS and have them hold it at your local station for you to pickup at your convenience.
I hope it all works out for you.

Speaking of UPS.
Average time from Cali to East coast(S.W. FL).
Order has been in transit from Cali to Jacksonville for nearly 5 days.

We also use UPS for some of my department's shipping. We ship out of Brighton, MA - time to Cali via ground is about a week..
I guess that's how long it will take me to get my machine Chris |

Just in case anyone was wondering, the system has just arrived. I decided to let them deliver it instead. I have not turned it on yet, but I already am very pleased with the folder and accessories box

I got my rig today, seems to have been UPS'd and caused some damage to the parts. And since I didn't order an OS they didn't get the chance to do the 72hour testing, so I kind of screwed myself.
Kelly was polite and helped me walk through a few things to be positive before we sent it back, after about 45 minutes he processed my UPS return shipping and both agreed that I should have them put an OS and do the full testing. Sadly it'll be another 3 weeks, but I assume it'll most definitely be worth it. |

What a bummer.
I could actually get the OS software way cheaper than DS price, but the 72-hour testing and OC convinced me that its worth the extra bucks to include the OS.
I should get my machine in maybe a week and a half or so. I plan on having UPS hold it at their station because its right down the street. I dont wanna wait for them to drive all over the city then deliver it to me. Edited by Phreak - 29 Sep 2007 at 1:36am |

It's also what UPS drivers do when they get too drunk at lunch to finish their routes.

You definitely can get the OS itself at a better price, but the price we state for an OS doesn't just include the item itself. Don't forget, you have to account for labor and time for installing the OS, testing, support, etc... There are many things that factor into the actual price of an item from us.

I was going to go without the OS, until I added in the price of software to do my own image based restore disk. That was ~$50 for one license, so factor in the restore disk, and you'll find the DS offer is cheaper than any legit OEM copy of Windows.
