UPS tracking updates--how frequent?

DSO finished and shipped my rig last Friday. Yay!
 
I live in North Carolina so I know it's a long trip but according to UPS we are on schedule for a delivery this Friday, Feb 8th. However, they haven't updated any tracking information since the weekend--it's been 4 days now:

Somebody tell me not to worry about it and that my new computer isn't still stuck in San Pablo somewhere. Right? Is it common for UPS to send something crosscountry by ground and it just doesn't get scanned that often?

from my experience, they update it slowly..  but don't worry you will get it on friday!

When my computer shipped, it was 4 days between the San Pablo and Roanoke VA updates.  As long as they haven't changed the "Scheduled Delivery Date" you have nothing to worry about.

Yep, just as a followup should anyone search out this thread in the future--this morning (2.7.2008) UPS updated to show my package arrived in Greensboro, NC, so it's within 200 miles or so of my house. Looks good for tomorrow delivery, now let's just hope it's in one piece!

Out of curiosity, when your machine shipped, when/how did DS notify you?  Was it the same day, or the next?  And by e-mail?  (I only ask because I was told mine might ship Tuesday or Wednesday, but haven't heard anything yet, so I'm guessing it slipped to today unless the notices don't go out right away).

DS emailed me with the tracking number Friday Feb 1 at 8:24 PM EST. As you can see from my post above that was very close in time to when UPS got it. Based on my experience, if you haven't received notice yet I'd wager that it hasn't gone out. Don't be afraid to call or PM Alex though to see where you stand.

In my case, I never recieved a tracking number through email.  If I had not been watching my order page I would have never known that my machine had shipped.  And the worst thing of it all is they just tried to deliver the box to the house, and of course no one was home.  Did not know that a signature was required to recieve the package. Cry

Through the course of my order I had talked to various people at DS and told them I was not recieving emails from thier server.  But I believe that Dave and I had communicated through his direct email account at DS. 

I suggest checking your order page, or give the guys a call.

You would think that with a comcast.net email, that things would behave normally.  I believe they still dont have the email server totally lined out after the big move.  Never recieved any config emails as I drew closer to getting my order done either.

Maybe someone could really dig into this on the DS end.  I am sure I am not the only one that has been missing emails.

I have a comcast.net email address as well and have not received any emails.  If you do have a comcast.net address it's best to just call or PM DSO, they are awesome about responding Big%20smile
