I am curious have anyone ever use any USB 3.0 device reach the speed anywhere near 10X the speed of USB 2.0 as they suggested? I read about some review about USB 3.0 external storage device only reach almost 3X times faster than USB 2.0 and personally from my own experience I also have external hard drive with USB 3.0 to test it out which also reach the speed nearly 3X the speed of my average USB 2.0 speed. How can they claimed USB 3.0 is 10X faster than USB 2.0 anyway?

Considering that USB 2.0 can only reach about 40MB/s and USB 3.0 can reach 400MB/s, it does indeed have 10 times the bandwidth.

Conventional HDDs are not very fast, so if one is topping out at 120MB/s (which many do) then it's only going to look 3 times faster than what USB 2.0's bandwidth could manage, but that does not mean it is anywhere near the bandwidth of what USB 3.0 can top out at. Currently you need a very fast device to actually top out USB 3.0, like an external SSD or something.
