Hey guys,
Haven't posted here since I got my Vaniquish 2 a couple years ago. (i5-4590 CPU, GTX 770, 8GB RAM) Anyway, I saw that DS just released the new Vanquish model.. and I must say I really would like it. My current vanquish still runs very well, and can handle most games. However, lately I noticed newer games are having trouble staying at 60FPS on max settings. I was considering just purchasing a new GPU, but I haven thought about possibly getting the new Vanquish. However, I wanted to know what the resale value is of my current vanquish. It would help me make up the cost of purchasing the new one. Does anyone know what the easiest way to sell it would be after getting the new Vanquish? Thanks in advance! Not sure about the resale value, but why not just get a gtx 1060 or 1070, depending on your monitor, and get another couple of years out of your present rig. Its the graphics card most likely holding you back.
Just a though. |

Here's a link to compare the cards with various games and screens.

Yeah, I'm considering that too. Is the CPU and Ram I have fine for a while? And how hard is it to change the GPU? Would I be better off paying someone to do it? I have a Dell 24 inch 1080 monitor.

Under View our Support Guides, DST4Me posted excellent instructions on upgrading a video card. It really is easy. A couple of screws, release a tab and pull the old card free.
Your CPU and ram is all you need. The gtx 1070 will max everything on your monitor. That's the way I would go, in fact is the way I went, with a much older CPU than you have. Mine is overclocked but you are still good to go. Save some money and try just the card. The instruction posted or any of us on the forum can help if needed. |

TiMTaM ... I have the Vanquish 2 as well. I've already upgraded the RAM to 16GB and will upgrade to a GTX 1070 here shortly.
I figure those two will hold me over for a couple of years when it's time to upgrade everything else. As you say, the V2s are still running strong, so why replace the whole thing? $400 for two more years? Yep, I'll try that. |

If you think you need more ram add some but otherwise you are ok, upgrade the gpu and if that does not do it for you that means its time for a new pc, in which case take the gpu you just put in this system and use it for your new system.
If you like to know how easy it is to add a gpu yourself look here |

Alright thanks guys. I'll get the money together for a new GPU when I can. Would the V2's other components be able to handle a 1070/1080 card or would I need to replace anything else in order to do the card upgrade?

Believe it or not the 1070 draws less power than your 770 gtx. AKA if I remember correctly you are good to go, since only thing we would be worried about is the psu.

There was a discussion about the GTX1070 and the CPU on the Vanquish 2 here.
It really looks like RAM and the new GPUs are all that's needed to get a couple of more years out of the V2s. |

Well he only needs the ram upgrade if he is maxing out his ram, if not he is good to go.
But just to clarify you don't need the ram upgrade to upgrade to the gpu. ram upgrade is totally separate than the upgrade of 1070. Just wanted to clarify for the op. |

Alright thanks guys! I'll either get the 1070 or the 1080. I'll also see if I should get 16GB of ram. :)

If you are at 1080p go 1070, the 1080 would be a waste at that res.

Ok, I'll get the 1070. Does it matter what brand you get? Like ASUS or EVGA etc. Or are they basically just the same thing?
