And now there is the 5 which is better and cheaper. Feeling a bit upset about it. I paid 200+ more for a lesser rig earlier this year....

On a good note, how has your computer been holding up? What are the specs and how does it perform with your setup? I just ordered my V5. |

I just ordered a Bolt 3 and I'm sure the Bolt 4 isn't far down the line. Technology moves fast, that's the world we live in now.

I have the Vanquish 2 level 4... ordered just as the original (with k chip and water cooling) was discontinued... and just before the V3 with much better GPU, etc etc.
Did I get the weakest version on the Vanquish? I don't know... I don't dwell on it because I don't care. This computer was exactly what I wanted when I could get it and I have, as said many times on these forums, never been happier with any (toy) purchase, ever. (Had to put "toy" in there cuz I bought a wedding ring and it's been the best thing...but I digress.) Technology changes, new things offered, things get better. But remember one thing: "If I always waited for the next thing, I'd never have any thing."

And 3 months from now a lot of us will be saying the same thing. Technology marches on, video cards especially getting stronger every year with pricing staying about the same. My first HDD was a 32 GB for , I think, $200, and look what's out there now.

Welcome to technology my friend, today's hottest gadget is tomorrows old news.
Same exact thing is going to happen no matter what Vanquish you buy. Besides its not about your Vanquish version / the book cover, its about what is inside and you/we can upgrade those parts anytime we want to match or beat performance. @bp22 remember when they were much smaller then 32GB? I remember my comp geek friends, excitedly knocking at my door in 1992, proclaiming their tech superiority, as they chained enough drives together to get a WHOLE GIG.
That's right, 1 full gig of storage. We celebrated into the night. |

I meant 32 MB in my previous post. My brain I guess couldn't process it. ![]() I remember using a cassette recorder to load games. The annoying, pulsating squeal that accompanied it. Zork I think. Edited by bprat22 - 11 Jun 2016 at 9:18am |

That brought back memories. The "slip stick" was a must have in school, and it worked pretty dang well. For some calculations, I could almost match the speed of others with the first calculators. Fun times. |

My first PC that I bought was an IBM PC 64. It came with 64kb of RAM, one 160k 5 1/4" single sided floppy, Intel 8088 4.77 MHz, PC-Dos. I added a second floppy so I could copy from one floppy to the other. Came with keyboard and black and white monitor. Seems like it was 12 inch. I later updated to a color monitor when then came available. Cost in 1981/1982 was $3200 with the optional floppy. A lot of money back then.
My next was the IBM PC XT that came with two 5 1/4 360k double sided floppies with a 10Mb HDD. The next was a 286 and then a 386. My first game was Pong. My first windows was 1.1 which was basically a menu system. The first windows that offered anything was 3.0. Got a free copy of Word in the mail and have used it ever since. Good times! Frank |

Forgot about Pong. I remember looking at it on a Atari 5200 and thinking, "how the heck are they doing that? " Of course, I didn't say heck.....
