    Posted: 14 Jul 2018 at 4:07pm
Hello everyone maybe i can get some help here. I bought a Vanquish 7 Level 1 back in may and it arrived the end of June so another week i will have had for a month or so. i havent really made any changes to any settings or anything my question is why would i be getting lag spikes on all of my games most of which are at least 3-5 years old. When i am not spiking i am getting between 30 and 60 fps easy. Any help on this would be appreciated

Im not one of the smarter folks here about our machines, but I do recall lag spikes being a function of the ISP or Router and not the machine.

When you start to see spikes, online, run over to Fast.com and get a speedcheck. Then compare that with what you're paying for. I've gone round and round with ATT and finally convinced them there was a problem when I could show them weeks worth of data that I'd saved.

But then again, that was my issue, I don't know what your's is, but it is worth a look.

Cheers

on second thought internet speed is not an issue for me i checked i can run SWTOR on high settings at 12 ms latency and when the lag spikes happen my latency doesnt spike so probably not the cause

My guess is that the lags are a function of the relatively weak integrated VEGA 11. graphics processor in the level 1.   The level 1 doesn’t have a separate graphics card.   That graphics chip , part of the cpu, is a good entry level processor for gaming with less demanding games.   You can certainly game with it, but not on a 1080p monitor on higher settings with certain games.

The Witcher 3 for example is an older game but still very demanding. My older gtx 970 , which is many times stronger than the Vega 11, would lag a lot if I had it on higher settings.   Same for Mordor.

I would Google the Vega 11 benchmarks for the games you play to see what to expect.

The other suggestion is to go into Task Manager and see if anything is running in the background that’s chewing up your cpu resources.

So it's not so much a lag spike as it is an FPS drop?

Ya they go from 30-60 fps down to 1 I would say that that could be the cause but I checked the spikes still happen even if I have the game on low settings with AA and everything turned off

A possible fix is to go to AMD website and download and update the Vega 11 graphics driver.  Being integrated I'm not familiar with the exact process, but should be just a download and install..  Windows might just be seeing the integrated graphics as a basic driver and not using its potential.

Let us know if it works.  Big%20Smile

I have read that that chip likes a lot of fast RAM. Something to consider depending on the RAM you got. Easy to change and might be cheaper than adding a  dedicated gpu.
Good luck and happy gaming. Big%20Smile
