Budget:
1200 Expectations: Triple A gaming on high settings for the next 2-3 years(destiny 2 , grand theft auto , star citizen , world of warcraft) Dual 1080p monitors Usage: Work and gaming. I work at home and most of the work is browser based and not graphic intensive but this machine will see constant use. Special Needs: I'm a little worried that the 8 gigs of ram won't be enough but I would like the opinion of someone who understands hardware(ehh I guess this is easiest enough to just upgrade at a later date) Specifications: Vanquish 7 (level 2) AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (Turbo Up to 3.6 GHz) (6-Core) 3.2 GHz MSI (AMD B350M Chipset) (Up to 2x PCI-E Devices) 8GB DDR4 2400MHz Digital Storm Performance Series 600W EVGA (Supports up to an NVIDIA GTX 1080 Graphics Card) 1x SSD (240GB Digital Storm Performance Series) 1x Storage (2TB Seagate / Toshiba) 1x GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (VR Ready) Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and responds. Hi RRed....Welcome to the forums.
The Vanquish level 2 will fit your budget and give you the gaming you want, assuming you game on a single monitor at 1080p and the other is for browsing and other lite duty tasks. The gtx 1060 is a very good graphics card for 1080p gaming. 8GB is still all you need for the vast majority of gaming. I still have 8gb from 6 years ago and see no need to up it. Good luck and stay in touch. Edited by bprat22 - 22 Sep 2017 at 10:02am |

Just to add...not sure of your work applications, but if they require more ram, like heavy multi tasking, editing, etc., it is very easy to add, Just plug them in.

@bprat22 , Yup only gaming on 1 of the monitors , the other might have a twitch stream , netflix or youtube up some of the time. Comforting to know that 8gb is enough too because the level 2 vanquish seems like a great fit for the price and my needs. Thanks for the response

ram is fairly/relatively cheap, so you might as well get 16GB. i kinda disagree that 8GB is enough these days. it is actually the minimum recommended. it also depends on the types of games you play and how well optimized they are. it's also easier to avoid memory issues with a paired set then to add later. i once had the same sku, although different batch of DDR3 1600 memory not work well together when i added another 8GB later.

Ram is cheap so it is cheap to add later. So here is what to consider, either go with 8gb now, later if you need more replace 8gb with 16gb (lets say 2 sticks of 8gb), or since it is cheap just go 16gb now. Obviously getting 16gb now would be cheapest and least work/headache, but budget always dictates. Edited by DST4ME - 22 Sep 2017 at 2:59pm |

The Vanquish level 2 doesn’t give him the option for 16gb.

Thanks guys for all the input , I really wanted this $1200 machine to work but now I'm considering waiting a few weeks and buying the level 3 which is about $1700 in the end but comes with components that are a little nicer. Maybe I could even run a 1440p monitor with the level 3 in the future?

Don't get caught up in the models and names.
Low/mid end 1080p = 1060gtx Highend 1080p/mid 1440p = 1070gtx Highend 1440p/mid 4k = 1080gtx I like a little more power so I down played tge gpu power a little but stick with that ball park |

I was gonna recommend the level 3 but sometimes money just doesn’t come that easy for some. I think the level 3 is definitely the way to go. You get a cpu with higher clock speed and an excellent reputation in gaming, the higher ram and a better cpu cooler than a factory unit that barely gets the job done.
The gtx 1070 in level 3 will max everything at1080p and play great at 1440p. If budget allows, then you will be happy for longer. |

Hmm , I like the config. Thanks for taking the time to put it together. I'm gonna take the night to think about if I want to grab that or wait a little bit and bite the bullet for the level 3. Thanks again everyone!

for $28 more you can get the 1300X much faster and unlocked so you can oc it as well. i guess they're all unlocked but this proc is a cherry picked 1200.

Right on boss
Fyi the 1300x stock is little under 7400, so the 7700 in lvl3 is more powerful but for your use (game/web) im not sure if that extra power is noticed much. So you basically need to decide if the extra cpu power is worth it, keep in mind you can oc 1300x cpu and get more power Edited by DST4ME - 22 Sep 2017 at 5:12pm |

DST.. your build doesn’t have an HDD and has the crappy and noisy factory cooler. That SSD is gonna fill real fast.

Right now I'm leaning towards the level 3 , the 7700 might be more power then I need but is it dumb of me to worry about future proofing a processor? I'm not sure where it fits into the big picture of pc gaming. I want this pc to still be decent in a few years. Also the hdd like bprat pointed out is a concern. I need a more space for sure.

No lol,I left the hhd off, when you need the space (in 6 months) you can add a better / possibly better price hdd. Adding a hdd literally takes less then 2 minutes, its pretty much plug and play.
Like I said your decision comes down to if you want to spend the difference for the 7700. Both pc will be good to go for the next 4 years atleast. |

Right , I mean if I get 4 years out of it then I will be super Happy. I think that I'm going to to go with a level 3 in a few weeks ( WHY DOES REAL LIFE HAVE TO BE SO EXPENSIVE) but I will make a post and maybe a review when I get my PC. Thanks to everyone for helping this n00b. Everyone's input was MUCH appreciated.

a more direct comparison might be the I5-7500 vs the 1300X. the Intel proc is $80 more w/integrated graphics. similar clock speeds except the 1300X turbos higher, and cores/threads. this just shows the difference between the architecture/performance in which Intel leads on per core performance as the Intel proc is actually a little faster in performance tests despite having a lower rated turbo clock speed. the difference at least in perception isn't much. if you don't value the integrated graphics than it's obvious the 1300X is a better deal as you can overclock the 1300X for even more performance/speed. if i were building a true budget gaming pc right now it would be with the 1300X. a mid tier system would probably be the I5-7600K. and a high end build would I7-7700K. those 3 procs are situated in their respective lineups as the best price to performance offerings for their class. |

To add, they will all easily last 4 years, I mean honestly I can't imagine a pc that won't, sure, ram, hdd, gpu or even psu might go bad, but those are all a quick switch and you are good to go, in gaming a gpu upgrade in 3 years should give you 3 more years for a total of 6.
Db gave you some good info, me and bp gave you some info, so before you come to any conclusions think those over, mess around with apolo config a little and then make final decision. Edited by DST4ME - 22 Sep 2017 at 11:42pm |
