So I just bought my second Digital Storm, and went with Vanquish 7 - Level 3 "Best"
As I wait (impatiently lol) for it to get built I'm trying to plan on what I'm taking from my old PC. I have a 6TB HDD, 4 TB HDD and a 120GB SSD and a TP-Link Archer T9E AC1900 Wireless WiFi PCIe Card With what comes in the Vanquish 7 Level 3, what of those will I be able to put in? |

You have a free PCIe slot for your WiFi. You have 4 SATA slots, so only two are free. You already get a 240 GB SATA SSD, so the two monster drives can come over. The motherboard can accommodate two M.2 storage units if you want.
Welcome to DS!

@Monastery:
M.2 is the name for a type of expansion card and the connector they fit in. The M.2 connectors are smallish slots that can take more than one kind of card, for example, an M.2 SATA SSD, or an NVMe SSD. Yours is a SATA card. Your mobo has two slots. The Vanq 3 comes with a 2.5 inch SSD, yours has an M.2, but they are both SATA units. The NVMe has extra connectors on a flat, skinny card that looks like the SATA M.2 but it accesses the PCIe bus. If you're looking to get the much faster NVMe SSD for your primary drive, I would recommend the Samsung 970 EVO in either 250 or 500 GB. I've come to prefer the smaller one for a straight gaming rig, because most games don't need that kind of speed just to load up. The 250 is a good choice for the OS and all your maintenance and productivity software, but I prefer to have my games library on a 2.5 inch 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD. They have really come down in price lately. Edited by Cretae - 01 Jan 2019 at 10:40am |
