QUESTION: We would like to know which Intel CPU would you prefer on the Level 4?

Current configuration of the Level 4 VANQUISH is with the i7 3770K at $1,399.

i say i5 because it needs to stay 1 step behind the ODE. Ive been thinking about that a few days now. The Vanquish should stick with i5 or the equivalent AMD cpu. They are both GREAT i use an i5 in my rig. But the lvl 4 vanquish with an i7 blurs the line between it and the ODE.

also the only thing the i7 has going for it is HyperThreading. And that is used for Apps and such. NOT gaming. That Vanquish line is a Strict GAMING rig. If it wasnt you would be putting a x79 board in it i think.

i like the use of the 3770 i only question why you'd put a low end motherboard in a level 4 configuration.

id actually prefer the price the same, drop to the 3570k, and put a little stronger mobo in.  Big%20Smile

Good question, and good points made by all.

Look at what your customers use their computers for, I would guess gaming (but don't hold me to that).

There is a certain branding with with hardware, and obviously supply chains to manage. That said, what is preventing DS from saying "The Vanquish line is designed for gaming. We configured a computer with a great price to performance ratio and here are the benchmarks that prove it... And it still makes a completely solid desktop too!"

I would also guess that fps would be better with saving the $100 on a 3550k and upgrading the video card. An extra $100 would put you into 670 or maybe 680 territory. You'd have a monster on your hands!

I liked the current setup of the PCs except for the OS.
Would like to see that as Win7 64bit Pro. instead of home.
My DS PC:
CPU: Intel i7 2700K OCed 4.4ghz
MB: {not sure :( }
Memory: 8 gigs
Video: 570 GTX 1gb nVideo
Sound: Built in
OS: Win7 64 Ultimate

I5 so the marauder lvl 4 is still a bit better. ( because the marauder doesn't have liquid cooling)

I voted for the i5, but I agree with others about keeping the same price and upgrading the graphics card or mobo.  Personally, I've realized the VANQUISH level 3 is a perfect fit for me, especially with that new GTX 650Ti Boost!  $1000 for a serious gaming PC is awesome!  Ordering soon...

The Level 4 has been updated for at least a week now. I'll be closing this thread since we did update it.

We kept the price the same because we also upgraded the graphics card to a GTX 670 from a GTX 660 Ti.

Here is a link to the configuration: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadvanquish.asp?id=822945&price=%241%2C399
