I just bought the vanquish level 4 system to:
1. work on photos 2. play Battlefield and Titanfall (when it comes out) Anyone able to give me some feedback on their system and its capabilities? I am so excited to unbox this thing and get back in the game. Thanks in advance

Congrats on the new system, rjtrout, and welcome to DS!
The L4 Vanquish is the best bang for buck system right now and with the GTX 770 you will plenty of gaming pleasure. You probably won't be able to max out the settings, but with some tweaks you should be able run most of them at high to max.
Don't forget to come back here when you get your rig to share pics & a review with us!

I definitely will come back and give a full report! The system you have in your signature sounds absolutely beast! The first games I will be able to review will be Crysis 3 and if I decide to get truly nostalgic, I may even throw on the old Call of Duty 4, for old times' sake :)

So, the computer is here tomorrow and I will be giving a full report! The add-on software I have thus far is:
Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements 11 Crysis 3 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition I did have a couple of questions for you, however! 1. I have a Windows 8 upgrade and this computer has Windows 7 installed on it. Is it worth upgrading? 2. The other games I plan to run are Batman: Arkham Origins and Battlefield 4. Should I go ahead and make the upgrade to 16gb of RAM when the computer gets here? Peripherals are going to be: 1. Acer 27 inch LED display 2. Corsair M40 Mouse 3. Corsair K70 Keyboard 4. Logitech Z523 2.1 Speakers Thanks for any and all input! |

Congrats on the new vanquish 4.
![]() You don't really need more than 8GB for gaming. Photoshop might make good use of 16GB , depending on your usage. I don't have Win 8 so can't say, but I'd use it if I had it. I wouldn't make any changes to OS or Ram until you've fired it up, let Win7 update and ran the rig for a few days. Just to make sure everything is working great. Enjoy.

I agree with bprat22 - let the system run for a little bit to make sure everything is running fine then update to Win8. BF4 actually put Win8 as the preferred OS - possibly for DirectX 11.1? Photo & video editors love RAM. Test it first to see how it runs and upgrade if needed. Games normally don't need anything more than 8GB...

Thanks for the advice guys! I am anxiously awaiting Fedex to arrive with this thing!! I think the anticipation of this new PC has me thinking a little too far into the future and I agree, running it as is for now is probably the best idea
If anyone is interested, Adobe is running some killer sales on their elements line of software. I just picked up Elements Suite 11 for $100. That comes with both Photoshop and Premiere, so you can edit both stills and live action on a less power hungry but still feature filled piece of software. I have been using Photoshop Elements 8 in the past on my laptop, but this seems like a no brainer! |

Well, it finally arrived!! I will post pics when I get home but I can tell you that it plays Crysis 3 without a hitch and looks marvelous doing it! The RAM setup as advertised was not in the case. Instead a higher end set of Corsair was installed. PhotoShop runs smooth and I have no problems with either fan noise or things not booting properly!!! I will post some pics and if I can figure out how, I will post playback from Crysis 3

Congrats on the new machine. Can't wait to see pics of it in action! Good to hear it arrived without any issues and is running like a champ!
If you got the DS certified RAM, they use various Corsair stock on this (you may/may not get what's pictured). Sometimes they use the Corsair Vengeance line which is what it sounds like you got...

I actually think I ended up a little ahead with what I got. It had the DS cooling system which I heard is good, looks like the Corsair (prob.is) and my graphics card is a gtx 770 from Asus rather than EVGA. All in all, it works like a champ and I couldn't be happier

I believe that's what most people have been getting lately for the "stock" GTX 770 choice. It all depends on what DS has on hand (unless you specify a certain model to be used).

Not bad as far as stock hardware is concerned. After playing Crysis 3 last night, I know for a fact that I bought a machine that will be good to go for years to come!

Alright, as soon as this movie is done! BTW, off topic a bit here, in the opinion of my DS brethren, will BF4 be worth the extra cash over BF3? Looking for a game to blow stuff up and get my multi-player on!

I haven't played BF3 (just getting back into PC gaming) but have pre-ordered BF4. Since it's out sometime in the next 2 months, I think it's worth the wait (plenty of other games to play in the mean time!).
Plus, have you seen the graphics & gameplay! Edited by fstcvc - 17 Sep 2013 at 8:07pm |

Alright, this is the review of the machine so far! I will post pictures later this evening.
1. Packing- the unit came air filled heavy duty crating and all pieces were included (keyboard, binder, etc). Honestly, the best packed item I have received from anyone. 2. Quality- from the start, you can just tell how high quality this unit truly is. They use a custom Corsair case that appears to be well ventilated. I may add a few fans in the future if I see that cooling is becoming an issue. So far so good. The keyboard I chose is the Corsair C70 and my Mouse is the Corsair M40. Both units boast soft touch controls and a truly tactile experience. The keys on the keyboard are MX Cherry keys and give great response. 3. Internals- the innards of this toy are top notch. The GPU and mobo both from Asus work well in tandem and five my system the future proofing I was looking for. This board doesn't appear to be SLI ready, but this is not a deal breaker to me as one GPU is fine for now! The processor is the 4670k i5 haswell core and the overcloxking checked at 4.4 GHz as advertised. To round that out, the RAM is a vegeance series a bit higer performance than advertised. No complaints there. 4. Performance- the optimized settings for Crysis 3 play the game at high throughout (largely in part to having a gtx770 on board) and I play on a 27 inch Acer from DS. The response and colors are intense. After three hours, the computer was running icy cold still, so not sure if I will really be needing extra case fans. PhotoShop and Premiere looks super rich and lifelike! The display and power of the computer makes this experience better than ever for me! Movie playback was also incredible. The DVD from World War Z looks great and the response time is solid at 60hz. For audio, I have the game on 780 from Plantronics and the surround sound is beautiful. This headset links perfectly to this system and uses USB, but on board audio is more than sufficient for these headphones. 5. Conclusion- for the money, I could not have built a better system myself. The only things I may do in the future are add more RAM when needed and upgrade to Windows 8 once game support grows and/or is required. Plus, Microsoft needs to work out the links in it too. Thanks to Digital Storm for offering us such a great deal and hanks for all the advice, it means a lot that you stand behind your product! |

Great review.
However I would recommend creating a new post under General with your review to separate it from config questions. Can't wait to see pics!
