The GTX 285 is the better of those two cards.

best bet actually is 275 gtx, cause its only 4 fps lower then the 285 but the price is much lower.

1 single 260 would eat 9800 Sli for breakfast. A 275 would obviously be better, and a 285 better than that, although it's price/performance ratio sucks.

It is yes. A 285 is 6876878646876762229 times more expensive for just about nothing.Big%20smile

Aloha,
Hi I am a first time buyer, and I've been secretely following the forums to get an idea why I should buy from digital storm.
So this is why know one recommends the GTX 285. What about two GTX 295 in SLI mode? I like the extreme 3 deal at $2700. I want to spend between 2500 and 3500. I want a stable fast system that will last about 5 years or so. My current rig is and AMD 3200 , 3 gigs of ram with a 5950 Nvidia Ultra. I bought this from Tiger Direct in 2003.It was a old Alien set-up.  Any recommendations? Mahalo.

what resolution will you be gaming at?

3 x 275 is cheaper then 2 x 295 and it has the same performance as quad sli, but most don't need tri/qual sli.

Aloha,
1920X1080, 25 inch Hannspree Monitor. Interest, WoW Fallout 3, Crysis, Photoshop, And Maybe 3D Studio MAX in the future.I thought the extreme 3 was the way to go. I was also wondering about the future of the 3 D glasses. Looks like it might be around the corner.Smile

I see the Extreme 3 deal is back. Can anyone recommned a better setup than that?Cry I will go mabe up to 3500. One consideration isWinkshipping to Hawaii. Cyber power web site says 3 day fed ex for the Black Pearl or Mamba would be 95 dollars. Yes, I am aware of the of some of the horror stories of theses other computer companies, but it is a sweet rig for the price. I've been out of the computer building for 6 years or so so I am not up to date on the latest and greatest motherboards, ram and so forth. I like the idea of the velociraptors set-uo and 285's in sli or the 295's in SLI. I must admit I am impressed with the loyalty of the forum members and the rep of Digital Storm.  I have not made up my mind on the rig I want, so I've been listening to the posts to get ideas of which way I want to go.Thanks

Understood that this is over kill, but for a couple hundred dollars more, I get the I get the two killer cards, 3 times the storage space, free overclocking, and better power supply. I think the mother board is the same, correct me if I am wrong. I believe the only difference is the memory fan kit. Broken%20Heart

Is there something about the extreme 3 set-up that I should know about?Cry Are the 295's gonna be problematic with games? I'm also thinking about plunking down 3-4 grand for 3 D Studio Max or Maya.  Tongue I will not need a rendering speed demon, since this will be a hobby at first.  Looks like I will need to research the the 3 different video cards a little further.Big%20smileThanks

for games like wow a single 275 will do better then a 295 or quad sli, since wow does not support sli.

2 x 275 out performs 1 x 295.

at your resolution you will not be able to tell the difference between 2 x 275 and 2 x 295.

save the money you would pay extra and update to a SSD h1 of 2010.

My config is getting OCed also.

the 1250w PSU will create more heat then you would need and I'm not sure if its gonna be as quite as the 1000w corsair.

Same reason some people prefer Corvettes cars and others well,... a Dodge minvan. There is no reason to get a lesser computer for about the same price. There is not a big savings difference between the two setups. Big difference in capabilities. Technology waits for no one.
