Hi guys, not sure if this is the place to post.
I'm waiting for the new hardware to come out before I purchase. However, I desperately need a new video card for my current machine. I'm currently using an old 3870x2 and sadly, while it's been a great card, just isn't cutting it any more. What card should I buy? I'm looking at the ATI 6950 and the 560Ti. Any thoughts? I have a 27 inch Samsung and game at 1920x1200. Thanks in advance. Edited by Aroberts0820 - 29 Aug 2011 at 6:32pm |

Check and see what type of gpu your mobo supports, does it have pci-2 2.0 x16? if not you have to match that with a card that supports what you have.

Fairly certian it supports PCIe 2.0. It's a Gigbyte Ultra Durable socket 775 board. Pretty old I know.

What kind of games you want to play at that res? normally we recommend single 570 for that res with option to go sli (if the games you use utilize correctly)

I'm just speaking in terms of something that will perform better than my 3870x2. I play all kinds of games, I know neither of those cards are going to absolutely destroy games at that resolution. I got Deus Ex over the weekend, Dead Island is already paid for, I'll be getting Rage in October, Diablo 3 whenever that is. I'll be building a new machine probably March-ishand I just want a new card to get me by until then without having to play said games horribly dumbed down.

I'm sure, I was just trying to reinforce that I don't need anything like a 570 because I'm coming from something that's 4 years old.

LOL I know, but the problem is that below 560, perfomance drops a good amount.
