Hello,
I have an over 4 year old pc running two 9800gtx cards in sli and i want to upgrade the video cards. i want to get something good and was thinking of one of the newest cards even the gtx 680. I'm wondering what problems if any i might run into with one of these cards on older pc and if i can even take advantage of what they have to offer with an older pc? My PC QX9650 extreme 3.00ghz motherboard-nvidia 780i core 2 quad (nforce 780i sli) 1000 w psu 4 gb ram windows vista 32 bit Thanks for the help Chris

The only problem I can see, is your 32-bit OS. You are limited to 4gb max and the GTX 680 is 2 gb so you will only have 2 gb to run your software. Your PS is fine, just make sure you have 2-6pin connectors. The FTW cards need 1-6,1-8 pin and the extreme cards look like they need 2-8 pin.
Have you thought about upgrading your OS to 64-bit and maxing your motherboard to 8 gb memory ? Edited by JerryW - 08 Nov 2012 at 11:31pm |
