Greetings.. I posted something like this but got moved to customer reviews sections (lulz). Anyway i'll make it short and sweet..

I have a 46" LCD that i want to use roughly 1/2 the time gaming (when the wife isnt home) while the other 1/2 of my time on a 24" 1920x1200. Question is this.. With the newest ATI cards out and the fermi in a few months, can i run the latest games on that 46" (1920x1080) with only one of those video cards to achieve frame rates of 50-60 with everything tuned on max or will i need to double/triple slot them? Also, what about on the 24" with the 1920x1200 res? 1 or 2 cards? I play mostly FPS and RTS (modern warfare 2 soon, COD:WOW, Dragon Age etc)

I will be getting a new rig from DS in feburary and i wanted to plan this correctly before pulling the trigger. Thanks!!

- Rob

P.S. I have to wait till feburary due to expenses and waiting on the new fermi cards.. Budget by then will be $2500

ok whether 1920x1200 or 1920x1080, the gpu needs are the same, the new fremi should let you run both of those at highest settings. with the 5870 you should be able to do the same tho the fermi will be a bit more powerful.

So it doesnt matter the size, just the resolution then eh? Fantastic.. So you're saying just 1 card will do is this correct ( the newer cards)

I'm saying 2 x 275 or 1 x 5870 is what you are looking for at this time, in a couple of month that will change.

keep in mind only the 5870 has dx11 support at this time.

Yeah, i'm aware of that.. But like i said i wont get anything until i am ready which will be in feburary/march the absolute latest.. I'm in no hurry as i need to plan this accordingly. Also if the fermi's are out by then and out perform the ATI, i will gladly take that :)

In that case I would say wait for fermi.
