Hey guys, recently I've been trying to use numerous video editing programs (Adobe CS3 Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas Movie Studio) and I have had some performance related issues. For example when I start CS3 Premiere Pro (the trial version of the program) I instantly get a message saying that the system is low on memory. So when I try to render my project it will cease to render at around 50 percent for unknown reasons. In Sony Vegas Movie Studio I can't even load a three minute project, without the program crashing because of low system memory.
I just got a Digital Storm computer in August here are my specs:

I have 2 gigs of RAM, and before I start editing I always shut down every single other program down.
My question is how much RAM/Processing power do I really need to be able to run a video editing program without any performance issues? Do I need more then 2.5 gigs of RAM (which would require me to get a new 64 bit OS)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Very common issue with sony vegas and premiere pro.

You can try running the programs on an admin account, uninstalling the plug-ins, and splitting up your project.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

Ok thanks skyR, but the project isn't even completed yet and runs for about three minutes...I'll try uninstalling the plug-ins.
