q6600 // 2gb 1066 ram // 8800gts512 // 620psu // vista home prem 32 I realize that the *reccomended* build is to have 2gb ram to go with this loadout, so please focus on the question at hand. Say you had the sticks sitting around, Would adding an additional 2x1GB @ 1066 HURT this build?
I know that your computer will only see / get a maximum of 3.2-3.4 GB of that ram.. but isnt that still a considerable amount more than just 2GB?
I guess the next question (if i get the answer i think id get) would be, would you overclock this the same way you would if there was no restriction from 32 bit vista? just let the OS be the bottleneck and have all the hardware running strong?

4x1 limits overclocking potential.

3x1 would benefit multitaskers but would decrease performance in a lot of apps because it's not dual channel.
2x2 would be best. |

long story short, the best performance(gaming/overall) youll get in vista 32 is 2x1gb in dual-channel config, no exceptions?
thanks for the help sky Edited by !ender_ - 08 Apr 2008 at 1:09am |
