What's the difference between the Vista 32 bit and the Vista 64 bit operating systems as they apply to gaming and does it really make a difference?

32-bit can only address up to 4GB of memory.
64-bit can address up to 17 billion GB. So if you are getting a system with multiple video cards or more than 2GB of ram, it is recommended you go with a 64-bit operating system. Note that 16-bit and 8-bit software will not run on a 64-bit operating system. |

64bit can use more ram, by doing so it leaves your system more ram to use, this should help any problems that might arise from your system not being able to use all of its available ram. Also if you go with say 4GB of ram and a 280 gtx, you now have a total of 5GB of ram, one GB from your gpu. a 32bit can only use 4GB of that 5GB of ram, 64bit does not have this problem. I've had good luck with Vista 64-bit gaming. Performance seems good.

I just love that wonderful vista tool that checks your system config to see if its able to run vista. The tool was advising me to upgrade my dell xps gen 3 to vista..
Yep.. I could really see a single core doing well in a multicore world, silly microsoft.
