Hey guys,

I was intrigued by a post last week about page files, in which one of the DSO guys said he wanted to put in a 32GB Raptor for his page file, and someone took that one step further by speculating about solid state drives.

I started wondering if you could use a big enough USB2.0 flash drive to handle the page file, and while the transfer rates and such would make it not worthwhile, I found out that Vista does have a feature that allows you to put a flash drive towards boosting your performance (ever so slightly i'm sure.) Unclear if the benefit is mostly for lower-end systems, or what the performance boost in practical terms actually is, but I found a FAQ on it and thought some of you might find it interesting:

Yeah, it's easy to get buried here.  ;)  I got really excited about this last year when I first heard about it, but I've seen some benchmarks and it is definitely for lower end systems.  Even for those, the performance boost is mainly when you're multitasking.
