does anyone know anything about this?  It seems complicated, but I'm willing to use it if it will fix the many, many, many, many bugs involved with vista.  Any advice of any kind would be useful here...thanks

You will definetly have to get someone to confirm, but from what I have read I think SP1 should have been applied through your Windows Automatic Updates.

I am using the RC SP1 for vista.

But even before I installed it, I am curious as to what the "many, many, many, many bugs" are.  I have been running Vista bug free for over a year.

Well, as far as bugs..  I cant seem to run Dx10 on any games ive tried so far.  I also cannot download/and.or successfully install the new motherboard drivers for my mobo..always says install was not complete.. (these are from the nvidia site.) Also, I cant seem to use any Anti ALiasing on any of my games or it causes crashes/hang ups and tells me that "display driver has stopped responding"  or "Display Driver nvlddmkm Stopped".  Basically, I got the system to play games on high settings, and everyone I have tried has crashed/hung up/blue screen dumped, or some other fun-ruining thing, and I'm just not savvy enough to fix these things on my own.  Also, many aps. I try to install on my system tell me in the very end that the installation has failed.  In other words im hotter than a snakes ass in a wagon route..  can you offer any advice?

thanks!

edit:  also, I have tried to get all the hotfixes and they always say " this hotfix does not apply to your system...

There were a lot of complaints of drivers no longer working with SP1 installed - most of these were traced to a specific manufacturer and it's being cleared up.

That being said, XP SP2 still kicks Vista's ass in terms of speed:

Vista does seem to move files, and especially extract PAINFULLY slow compared to XP. Its nice to see benchmarks backing that up, I wasn't sure if I was crazy.

Since SP1 doesn't fix this, I see no reason to patch it and risk breaking something else.

So far I've read only about how SP1 slows down transfers from pc to ext hd's.
