is it worth getting the latest and greatest system (vista) verses the older more reliable XP in light of all the bad reviews of vista's inconsistencies?

Vista is not inconsistent, it's resource hungry. Any modern processor should be quite capable of handling the demands Vista will place on it, particularly a nicely overclocked system such as the ones Digital Storm offers. I think at this point, the question is, or should be settled. If you have a decent system, just grab Vista. The only reason to hang onto XP at this point, is if you have any 6+ year old titles that you want to be absolutely certain will run.

Thanks to my school (NYIT), i got a free version of the business edition of Vista, which I installed myself...after 3 attempts...
I'd go with Vista, but have a dual boot with XP or a Virtual Machine running '98 SE, just for those programs which won't work under Vista.

in that case, is buying the dual boot with XP Pro and Vista 64 bit worth it. Is there a lot of software (games mostly) that can't run on vista yet? Or should I just get the 64 bit vista and leave it at that?
