I recently purchased my DS a few months ago, and up until this point I'm not really a big fan of Vista, however I've been considering changing from XP to Vista for upcoming games like Crysis, to take advantage of the DX10. Do you think its worth it, and how much of a difference will Dx10 really make? thanks.

If you take a poll on this question, you'll probably get a 50/50 split.
So far, I have not been impressed with what I've seen of DX10. Right now, I know of only two reasons to want DX10; the multiplayer version of Crysis depends on DX10 for it's destructible environment and some day Halo 3 will only play on Vista with DX10.
Eventually, Vista and DX10 will be the gaming platform of choice, but IMHO that day won't be here for a while. If you can see a meaningful difference between the DX9 and DX10 versions of games like BioShock, you've got better eyes than I do; admittedly a distinct possibility.....

OK, i'll bite Personally, i really don't think much about the Dx10 or Dx9 debate. Dx9 games look just fine to me. All i know is that Dx9 games looks and play better on a Dx10 video card. Haven't play any Dx10 game yet so i can't say if it will have better graphics or not. |

Well eventually you will need it. Whether you need it right now is totally up to how badly you want crysis lol
The good thing is that its very easy to install vista as part of a dual boot setup and have the option for both as long as you had installed XP first. As far as vista alone.. well it isnt too bad so far as I have seen.. I am running home premium on my Toshiba X205 laptop (http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?seg=HHO&poid=383433 and havent had any issues gaming or otherwise. |

As of right now it's whatever your preference and price range is. If you already have XP, I'd suggest searching for screenshot's of whatever games you're looking to buy and comparing DX9 to 10.
From some of the SS's I've seen of Bioshock being compared, you really don't lose anything.
Also what you have to think about is AA, that gives your graphics the extra prettiness.
