Why does DS promote/install Vista64 when the majority of programs are not compatible?
i.e. Online Armor |

32-bit is obsolete because graphic cards come with nearly 2GB of memory and i7 users opt for 6GB of RAM. Even Core 2 users go well over the 32-bit limitation with their 1GB GPUs and 4GB RAM.
Majority of software do run on 64-bit operating systems. |

Online Armor, is hardly most software. They are a minor player firewall program that from the looks of it has likely been using the same core code for years.
Vista x64 runs 90%+ of all 32 bit programs. The 10 or so percent with problems are usually programs that interface tightly with hardware, virus scanners, firewalls, hardware monitoring programs and the like, and some old games the took advantage of flukes in older hardware and operating systems. I run Vista x64 and I have found 2 or 3 programs in all of my library of software that had issues, and only 1 I could not run the other two I had to tweak round a little to make them work. The other 100+ items I use regularly all worked like a charm. Dave ![]() |

Online Armor has not caught up with everybody else, till recently they didn't even support vista.
most of the software out there do work with 64bit. as mentioned the biggest thing is that 32bit can only address 4GB of total memory, that includes your GPU s memory. |
