We are finishing up specs on our high-end prebuild config, and here is a quick teaser:

HAF 922
i7 920 OC'd to 3.8GHz
EVGA X58 Motherboard
6GB 1600MHz (Mushkin/Corsair)
750W PSU
1TB HDD
Asetek CPU Liquid Cooler
DVDRW
Windows Vista Home Pre 64-bit With Windows 7 Coupon Free
3 Year Warranty/Life-time Support

Target price: $1,899

Now, should we have either option:

A) 1xGTX 295

or

B) 2xGTX 275 896MB in SLI

Alex I wish you guys would use a 500GB and Noctua NH-U12P instead, the 2 x 275 gets my vote for sure.

DST4ME,

Thanks for the feedback. We can't change the HDD or the cooling system at the moment.

Other question, if we went with the GTX 275's in SLI, would guys mind it in the HAF 922 or do you want it in the HAF 932?

Ive been doing alot of reading in the nvidia forum's and it would seem more
gamer's would prefer the 275's in sli over the 295.

The 1TB drive is vastly superior to the 500Gb, keep the 1Tb. I think that the GTX 295 would be a better solution for the average user. One card solutions have a lot of advantages.

But isn't the 295 using two GPUs anyway? Also, 1TB is much more attractive than one 500GB drive. If I was to buy a prebuild that little drive option would annoy me.

Monstromo its never a good idea to have a big HDD as your os drive, but I agree with you on the 2 x 275 it out performs the 295.

The performance difference between 2 275's and a 295's is very minimal, and if you need/want the same performance out of a 295 OC it to 275 specs. One card leaves room for expansion.

K.I.S.S. should always be in effect.
There is nothing wrong with having a large OS drive. Faster and easier to operate with one drive than multiples.

I disagree, multiple drives do not equal slower speeds, fill up that 1TB to 70% and lets see who will be slower in seaches, defrag, backup and etc, you with a 1TB drive full to 70% with your os and files or me with a 500GB with only 20% filled since I keep my files on a second drive. K.I.S.S. is in effect, one HDD has only os/apps/games so that the os drive is kept simple.

dual HDD will allow your OS drive to maintain its speed, your way the HDD speed will decrease as you add more files.

in games that don't support sli, you can OC a 275 and kill a 295, K.I.S.S. should always be in effect, its much simpler to run dual 275 stock then to oc a 295.

Then put in two 500GB drives. That solves it.

Exactly, once for the OS and one for files, so that the OS drive does not lose its performance due to it getting filled up.

however this is pointless as Alex said they can't change the HDD configuration anyways.

Your point is just ridiculous.. Fill up any HDD 70% and it will slow down. At 70% full, the 1TB it is still faster than the 500 empty. So your point is not valid at all.

I never said 2 drives were slow, but why have one small, slow drive, or 200 of them. makes no sense.
Multiple drives are fine for people that are use to them, but for the average user, keeping things simple is always better.

show me where you see a 1TB faster then a 32MB cache 500GB and how much faster then a 16MB cache.

show me how defraging or scanning a 1TB HDD filles 70% is faster then a 500GB empty.

you act like the 1TB defrags or scans read/write, twice as fast as a 500GB which it does not, full or empty.

how is losing all your data on one drive (if the drive goes bad) the best option for users? and I don't see how a simple second drive complicates anything, its no different then storing files in a seperate folder.

I'm not saying the 1TB is not faster it is, but its not that much faster and once it gets close to filling up it does not have the same performance as it does when its under 70% full.

and even tho its a bit faster, it will not go thru 750GB of data faster then a 500GB will go thru 40GB of data.
