Hi all,

I am new to the board and new to PC gaming though I am hooked already.  I recently purchased a digital storm PC.  My configuration is in my signature but I'll list bellow in case I didn't do that correctly:

HAFF 922
3gb ram
MSI X58M
i7 920 @ 3.3GHZ
GTX 275
Chieftek 700w PSU

Will I have a problem adding another GTX 275 to this?

You can easily SLI X 2 that card.

Check out Nvida's offical sight for proof... Under max load, each card only draws 219 watts.  Thats 438 W max under load.

That gives you 262 W to spare to run the rest of your system.

Looks fine to me.

But, I am in no way an expert.  Maybe some one knows something I do not.

OK thanks very much.

It amazes me how close the graphics cards are gonna be though when i put it in.  It seems that GPU's are very close even on full size ATX when I have seen picures.

Another GTX 275 will fit, correct?

Just be sure you have the room.  Each card takes up two slots.  I have two cards in (8800 GTX but the same size as the 275's... and I have new 260 OC'ed I just ordered from Newegg on the way) and all I can fit in between them is my sound card. If you have a sound card and another in there... another GPU aint gonna fit unless you pull out one of them cards.  Just a word of advice.

And remember its going to need two 6 pin power supply connectors.  If you dont have them sitting there looking at you, your gonna have to wire them up.  Depends on your tech level if you think you can do that.  I bet, though, DSO would walk you through it... if you got the time and ability and such.

Good luck on your upgrade! This is what the hobby is all about.

Incidently, since I bought my top end DSO rig a year and a half ago, the GPU cards from Nvidia have upgraded like 17 times.  That wild, aint it?>

One last thing to add.... I dont know what 275 you have, but check Nvidia site for Watt specs.... and if your gonna buy another (sorry DSO) but check out Newegg.com for the best products and the best deals! Go with EVGA too, I think they have the best product.  Again, just my opinion.

Thanks.
I have no other expansion slots filled and will not need a sound card as my hearing is somewhat limited and I couldn't hear the benifits anyways over integrated..  The mATX mobo seems tight though.

Would it be best to upgrade to another GTX 275 in SLI or upgrade my RAM to 6 or 9 gigs for gaming performance?

GPU will always make a much bigger difference in fps then ram will, obviously do the 275 first, then if you see you need more ram then add ram but I doubt that after adding the second gpu you will see you need more ram.

BUT...If you are Overclocked you should default it first then re overclock...
So even if its just your CPU that's overclocked you have to default that first before you add RAM?

I appreciate both suggestions.  I'm probably going to add GPU first then add another 3 gigs of RAM shortly later.  If I need to default first then I need to do alot more research on that before I go about doing it.

if you are not OCed then there is no need to set bios to default, it probably is at default already, the reason you set it to default is because if a pc is oced and you try to install windows on it, you can run into all kinds of problems. keep in mind that if your res is below 1900 x 1200 you don't need a second 275.

My resolution is 1920 x 1080.  So given that, should I skip the second GTX 275 and go with RAM?

I think my monitor is only 1920 X 1080 not 1900 x 1200 (I don't know if the second number matters) so unless you tell me different DST4ME I'll go with another EVGA GTX 275.

HD is 1900 x 1080, same rules applies to HD that applies to wide screen (1900 x 1200)

in short at and above 1900 x 1000 you need 2 gpus to run games at highest settings and have smooth game play.
