for testing purposes and looking for the recommended way to do that.  For my i7 940 BCLK freq is set at 175, voltages at 1.40.  Should I leave voltages as-is and just lower BCLK freq, or better a combination of the two?  A relative noob at this OC stuff. Big%20smile

If your backing off on the frequency, back off on the voltage too. Too much current through it when its not needed has been known to cause stability issues. Also, if your not needing that much voltage its better to back it off anyways.

Thanks.  And how do I determine what is sufficient voltage?  I'm thinking off testing at BCLK of 160 and voltage nearer 1.35.

A bit of history, PC was factory overclocked in December at 4.005 but when received here bios was set at defaults.  Someone from DS worked with me to OC to 3.875 over the phone, whatever settings I have now are of course not what were used with the factory OC.  Do you have access to original records, info that would establish the settings for the original factory overclock that was deemed stable?
