Topic: Water Cooling Choices Posted: 28 May 2010 at 7:34pm |
I am adding a water block to my GPU. The CPU is already water cooled. I have my new DDC - 3.2 pump but I would like advice on a few choices.
120 x 2 Radiator: Black Ice GTS240? Fans for above. Scythe slim fan or Gentle Typhoon 120mm Fan 1850RP? Feser fluid one liter. Tube: Tygon 3603 Tubing Any good advice????? Fire away. |

Black Ice gtx, not the gts.
but those need high cfm fans and those will be loud. instead go with feser rad or xspc rx rad and then drop some 1500rpm Gentle Typhoon on those. go atleast with a dual rad. liquid and tube are good. |

High cfm fans = high noise. you can always hook them up to a fan controller to tune them back a bit... A little research on the rad you pick out will net a good amount of information about which fan speeds are required for which models, and choose accordingly.
I agree with DST4ME on the XSPC RX radiator. XSPC RX series are chunky, but they are relatively low restriction by comparison. You can go with quieter fans on this model. |

I have a fan controller and was going to get high rpm fans but turn then down unless needed during gaming. But I thought it would be good to have the high end there if needed.
I will check out XSPC RX rad and the feser rad. I use the feser liquid already. Any comment on the slim fan. I might need to go with a slim fan so it will fit in the top of the TJ09 case. Thanks for the info. |

slim fans = low cfm/static pressure
so no. when picking out radiator fans, always look for high static pressure, you want the fan to be sucking and pushing out at the highest possible pressure to get it through the radiator better Edited by ablahblah - 29 May 2010 at 10:15pm |

Ok so a dual rad it is. But I still have the single one that came with the benchmark crusher on the back of the case. Before it was just CPU. Now with CPU and GPU (295) should I take it off or include it into the loop with the dual?
Those Typoon fans look nice too! Will check the specks.... Oh one more thing the tubes that came with the DS have a wire wrap. For looks or should I get the same type? Thanks Ace |

the wire wrap i think is for tubing support so they don't kink and collapse. if you can find anti-kink tubes, just go with those, unless you want to specifically find wire-wrapped tubing to keep things similar.
