Ok so perhaps a lame question but I couldn't find much on this on these forums:

Do I need to perform regular maintenance on my Frostbite Water cooling system?   IE changing the fluid out or topping off every once in a while?  I was checking out other mod sites and one thread talked about changing it out as frequently as 1-2 times per year?!

if this is the case, is this a daunting task for a noob to the modding process?

Thanks!

P.S: I purchased my system from DS in May of 2008 so its not that old...~ 4 months.

I've heard many things. It can last 5 years then you gotta refill it, but the recommendation is every 6 months to keep everything fresh. I haven't actually done any refill since I got my computer in july.

posted by MaxxxRacer: "In a properly setup watercooling loop little to no maintenance is required. For example, in my nearly airtight sealed loop I have not touched it for over 6 months, not even to add water. There will always be some water evaporation through the plastics and metals of the system, but this is minimal. On the other hand if you are running an unsealed system, you will have to add water on a regular basis. Some uses have reported having to add water every week to keep the system filled. With regards to cleaning, as long as you clean the system properly the first time it should have little to no particulates in the water other than the common white haze that plagues all watercoolers. This means that you dont really ever need to clean it unless you start to see something unusual happen such as algae growth."

If you go with one of these cases like haf or cosmos s, they have a refill slot on the top and very easy.

you probably will need to check level and add liquid if needed every 6 month. you may want to change the liquid every 5 years.

You keep bringing that up but that kinda forces you to only have a specific type of reservoir right?  Unless all reservoirs have their hole in that exact spot....

@Kelly: This is probably why case modding must be so much fun if you intent to massacre the case when you first have it lol.

In fact what kind of "case modding" do you guys do really?  Was that a joke, or you really do offer that type of custom service?  If so that made even more emphasis on "You dream it we build it" lol.

You have to ask DS about the reservoirs

well let's say if we do, do that... we would get a special "re-tapped" Top Port version of the reservoir we currently used, then get a fill port to run down to the reservoir.
Hell yes, case modding is fun, but we don't offer a lot of services unless you're a magazine or someone we want to show off too :-P
