Hi considering water cooling for my build, mostly for CPU. Questions I have are as follows. How much maintenance does it require? Do you just add coolant when needed? Do you have to completely change coolant at some interval? Do you have to flush components out before refilling system. How easy is it to prime pump after maintenance? Here's a technical question someone might know this, is it a positive displacement pump or a centifugal pump design?

Thanks Harleyman, if its a impeller spinning water to the outside that would be a centifugal pump. A piston pump (piston moving up and down) is an example of a positive displacement pump, the pumps I see in the pictures look like centifugal pumps. They would be easier to prime then positive displacement pumps. Another question, is the coolent reliable? I saw a picture in this forum of a guy who had coolant problems and it looked like the coolant was flaking and dried out leaving lots of residual? Is that normal?

it has zero maintenance, if you want to call less then 2 minutes of work maintenance then ya its got 2 minutes worth once a month, once a month you have to check the level then if it needs it you just put a little in.
every 3 to 5 years you are too flush the system, again not that hard and DS can walk you thru it. coolant is none conductive and your system is under warranty if anything at all like that happens anyways. I believe they are centrifugal pumps. the great thing about LC is that you can't get the oc speeds with LC without it, its more quite and more stable. Edited by DST4ME - 15 Jan 2009 at 12:11am |

you will probably get 3.8 to 4.0 on LC but with LC you will have more room to push the OC if you like, DS does moderate OC. if you like you can even call them and they will walk you thru what to do to push your system or help you push it over the phone
