I'm pretty sure we already stated that it depends.
Clearly since you chose to go with stage 2 overclock, then yes liquid cooling. /end

that build is all wrong man, for LC you want more room then assassin.
corsair ram will make no difference. the intel ssd you have chosen is not a good one, and not one we recommend here. fan upgrade is loud and not needed, specially in LC setup. the gpu boost here is so mild you will see no difference from it. os boost has no baring on apps and game speeds. I assume we already talked about sli 570 vs 580. |

Yeah. Ok so I went a little over board.
Still a little confused over my first post I suppose, since it got locked.
So hailstorm case, no corsair ram, no SSD, unless of course they offer the Series 3 in early may when Ill be ordering.
Dual 570s over 580s.
What about the proc overclock?
Im not sure I want the hailstorm case, its pretty huge is it not? Over the assassin?
Is there a build like this that would include one of the HAF cases? I really like those.

The Assassin isn't really an ideal chassis for our Sub-Zero Liquid Cooling system; it's more for air cooling. If you would like to build a system with our Sub-Zero Liquid Cooling, you can definitely do it with the HAF X.

if you putting LC on cpu then I would go stage 1 oc if not stage, with instructions to go with the highest oc with vcore lower then 1.42 if you putting LC on cpu and gpu then you want a big case cause there is lot of stuff that go in there and the tubes need room to move around, with LC you want smooth curves not sharp ones,m they effect the flow of liquid. IF you want LC on gpu and gpu with a HAF case then yes you can get it, I would feel more comfortable with a little sturdier case when it comes to full LC, and I love the HAF myself, if look you see for air cooled system or just LC on cpu, I recommend the haf x case to everybody with the extra fan on top for total of 4 x 200mm fans.
exactly, but its your money and your case so if you want to dish out more money for the little extra performance of the 580, go ahead, remember I'm just providing info, but IMO with your budget, I would go sli 570, with a gpu upgrade in 2 or 3 years. Edited by DST4ME - 27 Mar 2011 at 5:56pm |

Ok so how about this, mind you Ill be ordering early May, so they might have the gen 3 SSD which this machine leaves plenty of room for in my budget.

that looks good I would drop gpu oc, its very mild and you won't notice any gains from it, the OS boost makes no difference in apps/games speeds and with today's computers you don't notice anything from the os boost anyways.
I see you picked white tube with green light, and the case has a red led fan upfront, you ok with that mix? is so then you are good Edited by DST4ME - 28 Mar 2011 at 6:50pm |

Oh yeah didnt notice that, so go with black tubing and red lighting or something of the effect hehe.
Yeah its free though, so mine as well go with it.
The HAF X is in same league as the hailstorm?

you can't compare the 2 cases, the hailstorm is more expensive and for a LC system is pretty great, for a air system not my cup of tea, for air cooled system I like the haf x and all the airflow you get.
the tubing is uv, in order to get the uv part of the tube to react, you need to get uv lighting, the green/blue/red lights, are not uv. its best to bo with uv lighting when choosing uv tubes. you can always change the haf's 200mm non led fans with 200mm red led fan Edited by DST4ME - 28 Mar 2011 at 6:53pm |

Is the Hailstorm a sturdier case then the HAF X?
Ive noticed some plastic facing, fan mounts etc.
Just wondering which case would do better being shipped multiple times.
Also just water cooling on the CPU would be ok? For upgrade of video later. Since the CPU should be fine for several years correct?

Hailstorm is much sturdier than haf x.
If your res is gonna be 2560 x 1600 with the u3011 (what an amazing monitor btw) then I would go with cf 6970. for some reason I can't load any builds right now, if I remember correctly you went with a SB build with 1000w psu and deluxe mobo, that system can't properly do sli, you will lose lot of bandwidth. |

Not sure some to be honest, some features for oc and perhaps more connectors for some stuff.
you can always get a 120gb 320 ssd for os/apps/some games and a second separate ssd for just games, kinda like this: HDD1 = 120GB intel 320, os/apps/some games HDD2 = 160GB intel 320, games/games/and more games HDD3 = 1TB black caviar for storage. if HDD2 gets full you can always add another ssd as HDD4 for more games again. in this senario there is no raid. or you can just get 2 x 160gb intel 320 ssd in raid 0 for 320GB worth of space, faster speeds, tho if one ssd goes bad, you lose everything on both drives. If thats what you like, I would go with the regular haf x, and drop the gpu and os boosts.
the newer ssds are out, DS does not have them. |
