I am trying to find the best PCI-Express x1 controller.  Something affordable and not too costly.
StarStarStarStar or StarStarStarStarStar ratings please.

Reason for request...proper planning on including my desktop with 4 SSDs in the near future...unless prices don't come down...if that happens I will just drop my money into 2 new GTX 280's and Tri-Sli my rig out.

This is my rigs current config:
< ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">< name="ProgId" ="Word.">< name="Generator" ="Microsoft Word 12">< name="Originator" ="Microsoft Word 12"><>

Specifications:

Case: Digital Storm 950Si (Black Anodized Aluminum Finish) Power Supply: 1000W EliteXStream OCZ (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache)

Motherboard: nVidia 790i Ultra Core 2 Quad (nForce 790i Ultra  SLI)

(DDR3 Only)

Memory: 4GB DDR3 Corsair at 1333MHz

Floppy / Card: - No Thanks

Hard Drive 1: - Western Digital Velociraptor 300 GB SATAII

Hard Drive 2: - Western Digital Raptor X 150 GB SATA I

Hard Drive 3: - Western Digital Raptor X 150 GB SATA I Raid Option: - RAID 0 Drives 2+3

Hard Drive 4: - Western Digital 320GB Data Drive SATAII Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Reader from Lite-On

Network Card: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections)

Video Card: (nVidia GeForce GX280 -1GB)

TV Tuner: - DVICO HDTV Tuner

Sound Card: Motherboard Multi-Channel HDA

Headsets: Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 and SteelSeries 5Hv2

Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 3 WindTunnel (Copper Heatpipe Heatsink & Zalman Case Fans)

Case Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Blue Edition) (Cold CathodeTubes)

If OCZ drops the price on their new core series line I may get 4 x 32 GB SATA2 SSDs or 4 x 64 GB SSDs.  Depending on how much my tuition costs and such.

what on earth are you going to do with 4ssds or 3 g80s?
are you plotting to take something over, like a small country?

Yes, Just like Pinky and The Brain.....
If anyone actually remembers that show.
No, I don't plan to openly rule the world, but the more I get involved with Information Systems Technology the more processing power I will need for multiple platforms.
So far, I have my Linux, Unix, A+ Hardware, and Microsoft certifications. And the up coming semester will be SQL, C++, C#, and Statistics and Probability.  So much left to do.  I am delaying going into Speech and Accounting because I hate those courses. I still don't understand how Business Accounting coincides with Information Technology / Electronic Technology.
And my focus will be in User Interface Programming.
I basically require the drives so I have various drives to destroy through either extensive testing, benchmarking, or broadcast my machine as a local Web Server.
After I get my masters which will take forever...then I will RULE THE WORLD
MUAHHAHAHAHAH

LSI is one of the best and more affordable manufacturers of RAID cards.  I know that newegg offers them but I am not sure who else.

Good luck.
