More out of curiosity than anything else...what, in your opinion is worth looking forward to/waiting/paying for...(doesn't need to be crucial stuff...could be just personal preference...or maybe, no definitive reason whatsoever...)
Starter list:
OCZ Vertex 2
New Mobo w/SATA 3
Larrabee
New "HAF" case from DS
GTX 300
New cooling system from DS
Bluetooth 3.0 (just came out)
Windows 7
New Microsoft Office 14
Sparkle 2GB graphics card
AMD's "Istanbul" 6-core processor
Intel's 6-core "Gulftown"
Phase change cooling for the masses...cheap
Better software/games that can utilize the tech already available
Etc...etc...

Last I read, the "Gulftown" is Q1 (at best) most likely Q2 of 2010 now. Whereas, AMD's Istanbul 6-core has been moved up to (this) June. Think it's worth a look--or (are you) strickly an Intel fan? Also, AMD "has decided to give its customers a moneary incentive to upgrade to a newer Opteron server processor. The program includes dual, quad and 6-core processors and includes an upgrade discount of up to 35%. It is interesting to note that AMD's upcoming Istanbul processor, will be included in this program."

gulftown is due out H1 of 2010, not sure if its Q1 or Q2, but the current x58 is suppose to be able to support it. So hopefully we all can upgrade to it when we are ready.
sandybridge is suppoes to be out 2011 and I believe its suppose to be 8 cores Edited by DST4ME - 24 Apr 2009 at 6:31pm |

those are server processors, you can run those on a desktop platform and server processors are not designed to be oced.
remember just like ram, core speed = PC speed, number of cores = more multitasking Edited by DST4ME - 24 Apr 2009 at 9:23pm |

We'll have to wait and see about that one. I mean AMD had trouble getting 4 cores to work so 16 cores in 3 years sounds farfetched to me. Besides back in 2007 they said they would release the 16 core codenamed "Bulldozer" in 2009 but now it's 2012? |

What some processor out of millions have to do with server processors not being designed for OC? as far as I/we know, its an extreme chip that has the OC record not a server chip |

Was going to add THE "wallpaper" to the original list...but, knew someone else would mention/add it ha, ha...
Also, probably mislabeled the "GTX 300" in the list above...notice it's referred to as "GT300".
Other info...Nvidia's next-generation high-end chip, which will feature support for everytthing from DirectX 11 to OpenGL 3.1 and OpenCL, will boast no less than 512 processing cores arranged as 16 32 - core clusters.
One other comment "The new architecture will not resemble that of the GT200 much though as those 512 cores are not SIMD (Single-Instruction, Multiple Data) units but MIMDS (Multiple-Instruction, Multiple Data), able to process either simple and/or complex functions, depending on needs. This design should do wonders in terms of processing power but it will likely make for another beefy GPU. Since the chip is not "done" yet, there's no info as to what clocks it will be able to withstand. But bets are now open."
@Alex... Any chance of m-o-r-e information on the DS HAF project--an 8x10 glossy photo with circles and arrows would be nice...but, I'd settle for an ETA?? Please Edited by Zardoz8719 - 25 Apr 2009 at 12:21pm |

I'm betting there will be a SSC or such that maintains a Ghz clock.

New Windows 7 build hits the net. Various reports indicate that the build may be the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC), which could be made available as early as May 5. An earlier build, referred to as 7077, was widely disseminated approximately two weeks ago. |

I think DS is making some changes or add-ons to the HAF 932 and thus its will be called the new/DS HAF case. |

I read somewhere that dust filters greatly reduce airflow, so I would rather not have them. What I can't wait for is the special DS cooling system. Any word on this? ETA perhaps? |

F-O-U-R... While everyone else is concerned with the heat/noise generated by one or two 295's...how do you cool a beast with FOUR? And, if the rcb400 comes out...would you need one for the CPU...and one for each pair of GPUs...for a total of three ha, ha? Lets see where to put them all...

don't know about rcb400 yet, if I get it to test it, it will be for CPU only, I don't even know how they are going to do the GPU, perhaps they will have a special one that will cool dual sli, no clue on how they want to do the GPUs yet. well LC on 4 GPUs should keep their temps good. |

Uh, that's not possible. They only have 1 SLI bridge connector, and even IF you managed to hack another one or 2 in, the drivers wouldn't support it. |

... I had an idea. Use 4 cores for gaming... and 4 as dedicated Physx. That would be amazing.
