The delivery truck driver called to ask where my house was as I live in a forest (DS had the wrong address printed on the shipping label) and he new the general area. I told him I would park my tractor at the end of my driveway. I put my pallet arm attachment on the tractor so I could lift the pallet that the computer arrived on directly from the truck. The driver was pleased he didn’t have to do much. I carried it down my 500+ foot driveway to the outside entrance to my basement, and from there, put it on a dolly to bring it in my basement – so far no lifting.
Standing it up, so the “this side is up” (the actual computer was actually upside down). We cut the tape sealing the box and removed a little insert section which has the accessory box. Now to get the computer out of the box. There are packing material in the corners. I wasn’t sure of they were just in the corners, or one piece sections for the whole side, so I called DS and was put on infinite hold, finally they disconnected me. The I looked on their website for help – no help. Then I finally got smart and went to YouTube and found this video clip: Unboxing a $9500 Custom Computer and it showed how he unboxed it. Once you have the tape cut open from the top and bottom, you turn the box on its side. Then I laid on the floor, had my wife hold the box while I leg pressed it out. It is just too heavy to have my wife help me set it on the table where I will use it and we are leaving for an 11 day trip first thing tomorrow. |

Y'know, without this COVID malarkey going on, I would be the first to volunteer to come and babysit the new rig while you're gone. I mean I wouldn't cost much... just airfare and snacks for setting up and THOROUGHLY testing that beast while you're gone... and maybe a few days after you've returned just to make sure everything was copacetic.
But, darn it all, circumstances being what they are... /sigh...
