Newb here wondering if there are certain things the vets typically do with their new pc's (in this case a Vanquish 3 lvl 4). I guess I'm basically wondering if there are checks, upgrades, software, etc that I should look in to right off the bat.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is a program(s) to check cpu and gpu temps. I think some of this stuff is also integrated in some overclocking software? Not sure where to begin there...

And I guess there are driver updates, which Nvidia already got it's update out of the way when I first booted up.

This may be a rather vague topic, but any little tips and pointers are welcome. Newbs have lots to learn Excited

By the time it makes it to you, the only real things to check for are windows update and nvidia/amd updates. Your drivers should be pretty update from when they installed them at DS.

Worst case, windows update will download any outdated driver for you (minus your video card).

Agree with Meller. Other than maybe a gpu driver and some Windows updates, just sit back and enjoy.   Even the gpu driver can wait for awhile until you know all is good.

Other programs to use...

HWMonitor....temps

Malwarebytes...keep the system safe. Run it weekly.

CCleaner.... keeps the junk down that likes to collect. Weekly.

MSI AFTERBURNER or EVGA PRECISION for temps on screen, checking or adjusting clocks, etc.

EVGA Precision16 X is a really cool program for keeping your GPUs cool. I've reset the fan curve now on my GTX 770 and I can play Witcher 3 for hours and never hit mid 70s. (Of course by then my fans are at mid 90% )

Speccy is another program i recommend to check temps as well as SUPERAntiSpyware.

For an antivirus there are people who recommend Eset or Nod 32
