not my cup of tea, on a scale of 1-10 making me want to buy a DS PC, I would say 1.2..

Nice and subtle.

Maybe for laughs have set of red hot lipstick stains on the other collar.  Every ad needs some sexy.  Although them machines are pretty sexy.

I hate to say it, but... "I don't get it."

I mean, it looks like the guy has a nose bleed. In which case, I feel kind of sorry for him because he just ruined his shirt. I don't see how one drop of blood on a nice suit connects to killing people in video games--which probably isn't what should be glorified if you want to sell PCs in the first place.

I don't really have a suggestion as to what would make it better, but I just... don't get it.

This is valuable feedback. It would be interesting to see what people have to say about this.

The goal of this AD was to grab your attention and draw you to the system.

yeah, I think I'd actually like the ad better without the blood, It just really doesn't do it for me either.

I think you'd have better luck showing off some amazing looking PCs than going with a MacGuffin to grab attention.

I mean, the one you highlighted there is really cool, but what about the syndicate? What about some other cool builds, like DST's or some of the builds you do for the shows?

I can't speak for anyone but myself but what makes me want to buy a PC is seeing PCs that look good. PCs where (like the one in the picture) there is a matching color scheme, a good design, or really industrial/high-tech looking hardware. Black and red, black and white, purples and yellows, etc. Colorful, coordinated, kick-ass looking PCs that I look at and say "Holy hell, I want that." (Think Million Dollar PC--though not the crazy modded ones)

Generally that grabs my attention more than any kind of clever advertising.

Drop the blood. Have the picture split one half the suit with 9-5 on the caption. leave the 5:01 but that side of the suit tattered and torn with bullet holes with a little blood oozing out. Just my .02

How about a picture showing your sub zero cooler, and a scoop of ice cream on it, then show "the competition" and an egg frying on their cpu.  With the tag line "cooly innovative"

I make PVP movies for pro gamers, from GotGame, and some high profile pvper's on wow, and source movies... to promote the video to create the AD banner on photoshop. I'm a firm believer of delivering an AD towards what you're promoting. If its Liquid Cooled with subzero temps, maybe have something about an arctic blizzard or something. I would link you some of my videos ive edited, but im at work and they dont allow anything to be browsed under "gaming".

IMO go with an idea of freeze/arctic/blizzards/snow...
 
Or.. show some gears or something mechanical frozen by snow.. (i hope your editor is a beast lol)
 
Or.. a corner angle of a computer sitting on a desk, with it freezing, with a person grabbing the mouse thats not frozen.

You could go with a Solo Special Ops military personnel on the left, in the background. And have a blacked out heli, with a guy on a drop-rope goin down.

Best idea ive thought of so far lol...

A guy walking towards the camera... blacked out (kind of like Sin City black and white), with his tie red. A car or something exploding in the background, thats hes walking away from. Everything black/white except the tie , and the explosion. I should get paid for my ideas. lol

@DST4ME, the tie was royal blue to not wash out the entire AD with red. With a red tie, the blood stain and the red system would all blend in togeather.

If you're just using a suit and tie, it really wont make sense to an average person looking through the magazine.
 
If you want blackops.. needs to be something better than just a tie and suit.

too much suit too less computers but i like the eye candy how it the suit brings your eye to the computers.

maybe make the computers bigger?
also keep in mind we really know the brand DS pretty well and your target audience probably won't so were not the best people to ask but still.
