Budget:
$1,000-ish is what I would like to stay around, but maybe up to $1,500.

Expectations:
I would like to build a PC that is as cheap as possible and still give me a very good gaming experience.

Usage:
1080p gaming on hopefully ultra settings.

Special Needs:
Low to mid 70's gaming environment and no pets, so cooling shouldn't be a problem

Specifications:
Will the base "Good" or "Better" Vanquish PC's get the job done for 1080p gaming on Ultra? If not, what should I tweak? Or can I even afford it with my limited budget? If not, what's the cheapest build for what I want so that I know how much I need to save up?

The Vanquish level 3 ("Best") is tailor made for what you're looking for. The GTX 1060 6 GB will get you Ultra or pretty close at 1080p on just about everything. And you'll have an SSD for windows, your maintenance apps, and a few games as well. The 8700k CPU will be good to go for several years from now for gaming.

That "very good gaming experience" will be yours day one out of the box!
