Digital Storm was transitioning from providing Windows 10 to Windows 11 after I already had my new system built. So I ran Windows 10 for a week after I got it then did the free upgrade to Windows 11.

Windows 11 has design elements to make the Intel new generation even faster than they were on Windows 10. I have an AMD 9800X and couldn't tell much difference between the 2 versions. Every new version always has hassles at the beginning but it appears they got most of issues resolved that people were complaining about.

I am satisfied with Windows 11 but I will admit that I always upgrade OS pretty quick when they come out. If I was using my computer for business or making money I would be slow to adopt till I was comfortable until people say it is better than Windows 10.

I am sure that a few folks will comment also on their experience. I haven't had any issues with Windows 11 and like being as current as I can be with my new system.

Received my new Lumos a few weeks ago with Win 11 and honestly it seems to work fine. Games run great.

Took a little bit to get use to the new layout but nothing that would make me want to switch back to Win10.

I've heard it's supposed to be pretty buggy since it's a new OS, but I've had my windows 11 machine for a little over a week and haven't had any problems with it yet. However, I haven't played any of my really retro games from the XP and 7 days like Diablo or things like that, so if they don't work my opinion of 11 might change. But as far as just stability goes 11 seems to be alright to me.

I installed Win 11 right away but only because I tend to install the newest.   No problems, don’t use it any differently, just had to get use to new way to find things.

It's ok and you can find your way in it but from what I have seen it really is an update to W10 and it will eventually kill any pc without TPM. Starting with W10 (never experienced W8 or 8.1, lol) a lot of functions that were manually adjusted/controlled with W7 were not operator controlled  anymore and MS sold W10 as the last OS. MS is slowly taking ownership of the OS and allowing us to use it by "buying" it.

That is solely my uneducated opinion.

I don't know what you mean by this. MS has "owned" the OS from earliest days. I think market share is around 70% worldwide. Is it offensive that they sell it? That's just a question for clarification. I do think it should be less expensive. I'm not interested, but it's a free upgrade if you own Win 10. Pretty generous, I think.

Maybe I've been walking on water and my comeuppance is still pending, but I have been fortunate to avoid the MS bungles like Vista and Win 8. (Just luck, mostly.) I've used MS-DOS, Win 3, Win 3.1, Win 95, Win XP, Win 7 and now Win 10, without a single issue caused by the OS. I've never had an issue caused by an update. I think that's a bit beyond the norm, but nothing succeeds like success. I have been absolutely thrilled to death that, since Win 3.0, I haven't had to configure a game to run in order to play it.

I meant that you did "own" it since once you had it installed, you controlled what it did and what updates/upgrades you downloaded. No more.

There is a reason Ubuntu Linux is becoming more popular.

Windows 11 and all the Windows I worked with are better than IBM OS/2. I worked 6 years for IBM and they forced us to use that junk for years.

Oh, thanks for clarifying. You are right on both counts.

I have no opinion on Windows 11 because my Bolt does not and will not support it. So that's pretty simple. LOL I plan on running the ole Bolt into the ground too, so I hopefully I won't experience Windows 11 for a while.

Ubuntu Linux is quickly narrowing the gap for user interfaces. Windows or macOS it is not, but it's getting there. I tend to put Linux of some variety on older PCs to spare them the graveyard for a while and non-tech people who I have installed Ubuntu Linux for have done well with it. I've also saved more "dead" PCs with distros like Puppy Linux than I can even remember.

But for now I'm a Windows 10 user on my main PC and don't see that changing unless my hand is forced.

My first computer was an Atari 400 with a membrane keyboard and cassette drive. I upgraded the 512KB and maxed it out to 640KB and used that 128KB extra as a Virtual Disk. This allowed me to do cool things FAST!
